(4) Install the blocks (47) in the flap linkage (Fig. 401).
NOTE:____The blocks will absorb the load from the flap panel. This will permit the removal of the bolts at pivot points B, C and
G.

Put the ALTN FLAPS EXT/RET in the OFF position.

_______ THE LE FLAP SAFETY LOCKS. THE LE FLAPS CAN MOVE QUICKLY IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE SAFETY LOCKS CORRECTLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

Do this task: "Extended Leading Edge Flap Deactivation and Safety Lock Installation" (AMM 27-81-00/201).

Remove the Variable Camber Flap

(1)
Remove the folding nose (62) if it is necessary:
(a)
Remove the bonding jumper (38) at each point M.
(b)
Hold the folding nose and remove eight bolts (59) and washers (60) that attach the hinge assembly (61) to the folding nose (62).
(c)
Make a mark of the location of shims at each hinge assembly and keep the shims.

(2)
Remove the variable camber flap:
(a)
Remove the bonding jumper (22) between each link FEBC and the structure.
CAUTION: AT PIVOT POINTS B, E, H AND N, MAKE SURE TO KEEP THE INNER
_______ AND OUTER SLEEVES OF THE BUSHING TOGETHER AS AN ASSEMBLY. THIS WILL PREVENT AN INCORRECT INSTALLATION OF THE BUSHING.
(b)
Remove the bolts (11, 16, 24) at each pivot points C, B, G.
(c)
Remove the flap (1) from the airplane.
(d)
Remove the blocks (47) from the linkage.
(e)
Remove the bonding jumpers (22, 38) from the linkage.
