Remove the parts to be measured.
(b)
Use a micrometer to measure the dimensions of these parts.
(c)
Compare the part dimensions to the limit dimensions.
(d)
If the part dimension is out of tolerance, replace the part.
(e)
Install all the parts removed to do the check.

(1)
Examine the actuating linkage and the torque tube:
(a)
Examine all the worn areas of the bushings and bolts for excessive freeplay.
(b)
Examine the thread worn areas on all the parts with threads.
(c)
Examine the torque tubes for excessive freeplay, corrosion and worn areas.
NOTE: The worn areas must be smooth and at the center on the

teeth.
(d) If the part dimension is out of tolerance, replace the part.

OFFSET GEARBOX - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. There are two tasks in the procedure. There is one task for the removal and one task for the installation of the offset gearbox on the drive shaft. The procedure has these parts:
(1)
The installation of the safety locks at the leading edge flaps
(2)
The removal of the offset gearbox
(3)
The installation of the offset gearbox
(4)
A check of the retract stop clearance.
B.
Adjacent to the two Krueger flaps drive units is an offset gearbox. Try not to move the flaps and the drive unit during the removal and installation procedure. It is then not necessary to adjust the flaps or the drive unit when you install the gearbox.
