_______ THE LE FLAP SAFETY LOCKS. THE LE FLAPS CAN MOVE QUICKLY IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE SAFETY LOCKS CORRECTLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

Extend the Unservicable Leading Edge Flaps

(1) For the applicable drive unit, install a jumper wire between the

CAUTION:_______DO NOT LET THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS EXTEND FULLY. DAMAGE CAN OCCUR IF THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS EXTEND FULLY AND TOUCH THE DOWN STOPS.
(2)
Extend the applicable leading edge flap until you can get access to the torque tubes:
(a)
Push the ALTN FLAPS ARM switch on the Captain's center panel to the ARM position.
(b)
Turn the ALTN FLAPS EXT/RET switch on the Captain's center panel to the EXT position.
(c)
Extend the applicable leading edge flaps until you can get access to the torque tubes.
NOTE: If the leading edge flaps do not extend electrically,
____ try to open the flaps manually at the flap panel interface.
(d)
Turn the ALTN FLAPS EXT/RET switch on the Captain's center panel to the OFF position.
(e)
Push the ALTN FLAPS ARM switch on the Captain's center panel.

Remove the flap lever lock:
(a)
Loosen the screw on the flap lever lock.
(b)
Pull the flap lever lock from the detent plate.
(c)
Remove the flap lever lock from the flap control lever.
