 WARNING:_______ MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE AND TE
 FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS BEFORE YOU MOVE THE FLAP
 CONTROL LEVER.  WITH HYDRAULIC AND PNEUMATIC POWER REMOVED, THE
 LE AND TE FLAPS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY BY ELECTRICAL POWER
 WHEN YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER.

 CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU LOWER THE INBOARD FAN COWL PANELS AND INBOARD
_______ REVERSER HALVES FOR NO. 1 AND NO. 4 ENGINES BEFORE LE FLAP OPERATION. THIS CAN PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE COWLING OR THRUST REVERSER HALVES.
 (1)  
Do a test on the LE flap position (primary pneumatic drive).

 (a)  
Make sure all LE flaps are correctly aligned (Fig. 501 and 502).

 (b)  
Move the flap control lever to the 1 unit detent.

 1)  Make sure Group A LE Flaps extend in 6 to 8.8 seconds (all drive units up to 60B80042-23) or 10 |1 seconds (60B80042-25 or higher drive units).

 (c)  
Move the flap control lever to the 5 unit detent.

 1)  Make sure Group B LE Flaps extend in 6 to 8.8 seconds (all drive units up to 60B80042-23) or 10 |1 seconds (60B80042-25 or higher drive units).

 (d)  
Move the flap control lever to full DOWN detent. 1) Make sure the trailing edge flaps extended fully.

 (e)  
Move the control lever back to the 5 unit detent. 1) Make sure there is no change in the LE flaps position.

 (f)  
Move the flap control lever to the 1 unit detent.

 1)  Make sure group B LE flaps retract in approximately 10 seconds after the inboard TE flaps are retracted to less than 4.5 units.

 (g)  
Move the flap control lever to the full UP detent.


 1)  Make sure group A LE flaps retract in 6 to 8.8 seconds (all drive units up to 60B80042-23) or 10 |1 seconds (60B80042-25 or higher drive units) after the outboard TE flaps are retracted.

 (2)  
Do a test on the LE flap position (primary electric drive).

 (a)  
For the applicable system, Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags: 1) P6 Main Power Distribution Panel


 a) 6E3 PRIM LE FLAP CONT GRP A AC b) 6E4 PRIM LE FLAP CONT GRP A DC c) 6E5 PRIM LE FLAP CONT GRP B AC d) 6E6 PRIM LE FLAP CONT GRP B DC

 (b)  
Move the flap control lever to the 1 unit detent. 1) Make sure the EICAS caution message FLAPS PRIMARY comes into view.

 2)  Make sure group A LE flaps extend electrically in 85 seconds.

 (c)  
Move the flap control lever to the 5 unit detent. 1) Make sure group B LE flaps extend electrically in 85

 seconds. 2) Make sure group A LE flaps stay in the extended position.

 (d)  
Move the flap control lever to the 1 unit detent.


 1)  Make sure group B LE flaps retract electrically in 85 seconds after the inboard TE flaps are retracted to less than 4.5 units.
 2)  Make sure group A LE flaps stay in the extended position.
 (e)  
Move the flap control lever to the full UP detent. 1) Make sure group A LE flaps retract electrically in 85

 seconds after the inboard TE flaps are retracted. 2) Make sure group B LE flaps stay in the retracted position.

 (f)  
Make sure the EICAS caution display FLAPS PRIMARY went out of view after 20 seconds.

 (g)  
For the applicable system, Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers: 1) P6 Main Power Distribution Panel


 a) 6E3 PRIM LE FLAP CONT GRP A AC b) 6E4 PRIM LE FLAP CONT GRP A DC c) 6E5 PRIM LE FLAP CONT GRP B AC d) 6E6 PRIM LE FLAP CONT GRP B DC

 (3)  
Do a test on the position of group A LE flaps during the reverse thrust operation.

 (a)  
Do the automatic speed brake system deactivation
 (AMM 27-62-00/201).


 (b)  
Make sure the applicable engine START and ENGINE BLEED switches, on the overhead panel, are in the off position.

 (c)  
Move the flap control lever to the 5 unit detent to extend the LE flaps.
