Install eight bolts (59) and washers (60) in each hinge assembly (61).
(b)
Put the shims at the locations that you identified before.
(c)
Set the folding nose (62) in its position.
(d)
Tighten the bolts (59) that attach the folding nose (62) to the hinge assemblies (61).
(e)
Examine the clearance between the folding nose and the hinge assembly at each attached bolt pair location.
(f)
Use the shims if the clearance is more than 0.002 inch.
(g)
If new shims are necessary, add shims to a maximum of 0.10 inch.
(h)
Tighten the bolts (59) that attach the folding nose (62) to the hinge assemblies (61).

At the centerline of the linkage, measure the dimension where the flap and the folding nose do not align. 1) Make sure the dimension is 0.21 +/- 0.03 inch.
(j)
Adjust the folding nose if the flap and the folding nose do not align to the specified limit: 1) Loosen the hinge bolts one turn. 2) Adjust the folding nose until you get the specified limit. 3) Tighten the hinge bolts.
(k)
Install the bonding jumper (38) at each point M.

Bend the flap linkage and install the blocks (47) in the linkage (Fig. 401).

Install the variable camber flap:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE INNER AND OUTER SLEEVES FROM THE
_______ BUSHING (18) ARE INSTALLED IN THE PIVOT POINT B. IF THE TWO SLEEVES ARE NOT INSTALLED, DAMAGE TO THE FLAP CAN OCCUR.

Put the flap in its position.
(b)
Align point B of each link FEBC with link ABG.
(c)
Install the bolt (16), washers (17), bushing (19) and nut (18).
(d)
Tighten the nuts to 480-600 pound-inches (for LE flap No. 1E-5 and 22-26E) or 660-780 pound-inches (for LE flap No. 6-10 and 17-21).
(e)
Align point G on each link ABG and link GHJK.
(f)
Install the bolt (24), washers (25), bearing (27) and nut (26).
(g)
Tighten the nuts to 270-300 pound-inches (for LE flap No. 1E-5 and 22-26E) or 480-600 pound-inches (for LE flap No. 6-10 and 17-21).
(h)
Align point C on each link CD and FEBC.
(i)
Install the bolt (11), washers (12), bearing (15), spacer (14) and nut (13).
(j)
Tighten the nuts to 370-610 pound-inches.
(k)
Install two bonding jumpers (22) between link FEBC and the wing structure.
(l)
Remove the blocks (47) from the linkage.
