_______ BEFORE YOU APPLY PNEUMATIC POWER. THE LE FLAPS CAN MOVE AUTOMATICALLY WHEN YOU APPLY PNEUMATIC POWER. THIS OCCUR IF YOU MOVED THE REVERSE THRUST LEVERS OR FLAP CONTROL LEVER WHEN PNEUMATIC POWER WAS OFF.

Operational Test of the Leading Edge Flap System

 WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE AND TE
_______ FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS BEFORE YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. WITH HYDRAULIC AND PNEUMATIC POWER REMOVED, THE LE AND TE FLAPS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY BY ELECTRICAL POWER WHEN YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER.
 CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU LOWER THE INBOARD FAN COWL PANELS AND INBOARD
_______ REVERSER HALVES FOR NO. 1 AND 4 ENGINES BEFORE LE FLAP OPERATION. THIS CAN PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE COWLING AND THE THRUST REVERSER HALVES.
 (1)  
Do a test of the primary pneumatic operation of the LE flap system.

 (a)  
Move the flap control lever to the 1 unit detent.

 1)  Make sure group A LE flaps extend fully (flaps No. 6 through 21).

 (b)  
Move the flap control lever to the 5 unit detent.


 1)  Make sure group B LE flaps extend fully (flaps No. 1E through 5 and 22 through 26E).

 2) Make sure group A LE flaps stay in the extended position.
 (c)  
Move the flap control lever to the full DOWN detent.

 (d)  
Move the flap control lever back to the 5 unit detent. 1) Make sure no change occurs to the LE flaps.

 (e)  
Move the flap control lever to the 1 unit detent. 1) Make sure group B LE flaps retract after the inboard TE

 flaps are retracted to less than 4.5 units. 2) Make sure group A LE flaps stay in the extended position.

 (f)  
Move the flap control lever to full UP detent. 1) Make sure group A LE flaps retract after the outboard TE

 flaps are retracted. 2) Make sure group B LE flaps stay in the retracted position.

 (g)  
Move the flap control lever to the 5 unit detent.
 1) Make sure groups A and B LE flaps extend.


 (h)  
Move the flap control lever to the full UP detent.

 (2)  
Do a test of the primary electric operation of the LE flap system.

 (a)  
For the applicable system, Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags: 1) P6 Main Power Distribution Panel

 a) 6E3 PRIM LE FLAP CONT GRP A AC b) 6E4 PRIM LE FLAP CONT GRP A DC c) 6E5 PRIM LE FLAP CONT GRP B AC d) 6E6 PRIM LE FLAP CONT GRP B DC

 (b)  
Move the flap control lever to the 1 unit detent. 1) Make sure the EICAS caution display FLAPS PRIMARY comes

 into view. 2) Make sure group A LE flaps extend electrically.

 (c)  
Move the flap control lever to the 5 unit detent. 1) Make sure group group B LE flaps extend electrically. 2) Make sure group A LE flaps stay in the extended position.

 (d)  
Move the flap control lever to the 1 unit detent. 1) Make sure group B LE flaps retract electrically after the

 inboard TE flaps are retracted to less than 4.5 units. 2) Make sure group A LE flaps stay in the extended position.

 (e)  
Move the flap control lever to the full UP detent. 1) Make sure group A LE flaps retract electrically after the

 outboard TE flaps are retracted. 2) Make sure group B LE flaps stay in the retracted position.

 (f)  
After 20 seconds, make sure the EICAS caution display FLAPS PRIMARY go out of view.

 (g)  
For applicable system, Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers: 1) P6 Main Power Distribution Panel
