 EFIS COOLING SYSTEM - TROUBLE SHOOTING

 1.  General_______
 A.  Cooling of EFIS (Electronic Flight Instrument System) equipment utilizes cabin air. This air may contain impurities such as tars and nicotine which may settle on the equipment. If equipment is not cleaned for a considerable period of time, these deposits could adversely affect their cooling.
 B.  The EFIS cooling system has several items which could cause trouble. They are the low flow sensor, fans, and relays. When trouble shooting the equipment cooling system, always check that the fan is operating. If the OFF amber warning light is on and there is airflow at the discharge ports or the fan is not operating, trouble shoot per trouble shooting charts.
 C.  Failure of air movement in the EFIS cooling system is indicated when the EQUIP COOLING SUPPLY OFF amber warning light on the forward overhead panel (P5) illuminates. The OFF light is actuated by the low flow sensor.

F. Troubleshooting Charts
(1) The following chart is for normal operation, ie with selector switch at NORMAL. If problem was encountered with switch at ALTERNATE, substitute alternate fan and alternate fan relay and reverse check valve postions where applicable. For switch continuity in ALTERNATE position check between contacts 4 and 5.

 EFIS COOLING SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure has two tasks. One task is the EFIS cooling system operational test, and the other task is the EFIS cooling system performance test.
 B.  The operational test makes sure that all the EFIS cooling system components work. The performance test makes sure that there is sufficient airflow to cool the equipment.
