D. Install the Turbofan Valve ú
S 424-007
(1) Do the steps that follow to install the turbofan valve (Fig. 401).
(a)
Put the turbofan valve in its installed position.
(b)
Position the two clamps that hold the turbofan valve to the ducts.
(c)
Determine the run-on torque for the self-locking nut on the clamp T-bolt as follows:
NOTE: The run-on torque is the torque required to turn the
____ self-locking nut on the T-bolt before the clamp tightens. The run-on torque should be 7-10 inch-pounds for the T-bolt threads with solid film lubricant.
1) Use a 1/4-inch drive torque wrench with a gage that shows torque indication with a range of 0-30 inch-pounds.
2) Tighten the self-locking nut on the clamp T-bolt with the torque wrench and observe the torque needed to turn the nut on the clamp T-bolt before the clamp starts to tighten.
3) Add the observed run-on torque to 50 to 55 inch-pounds. For example, if the run-on torque needed to turn the self-lcoking nut was 8 inch-pounds, then the torque needed to tighten the clamp is 58-63 inch-pounds. This is the calculated torque needed to tighten the clamp.

4) Tighten the clamp to the torque value calculated in the
previous step.
(d) Install the bonding jumper.
1) Make sure the bonding resistance is not more than 0.0025
ohm.
(e) Install the electrical connectors.
E. Do a Test of the Turbofan Valve
S 714-013
(1) Do these steps to do a test of the turbofan valve:
(a) Make sure the air conditioning PACK switch is in the OFF
position.
ú
(b) Make sure these circuit breakers are closed and remove the
DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
1) P6-4 Panel
a) L TURBOFAN VALVE
b) R TURBOFAN VALVE
(c) Supply electrical power (Ref 24-22-00/201).
(d) Pressurize the pneumatic system (Ref 36-05-00/201).
(e) Put the Isolation Valve Switch in the OPEN position.
NOTE: This supplies air to the turbofan valve.____
(f) Put the air conditioning PACK switch in the AUTO position.
(g) Make sure the turbofan valve opens.
