(3) The second method cleans the air cleaner fully, but special equipment and materials are necessary.
(a)
A solvent can be used to remove oils or greases from the metal surfaces.
(b)
Alkaline cleaners are recommended for the removal of dirt or
other materials that are firmly adherred to the metal surfaces.Standard Tools and Equipment

Dryer - Oven, capable of 140° F (60° C) (for method 2)

Bath - Parts, sufficient in size to soak the air cleaner, and capable of 130° F (54° C) (for method 2)

Remove the air cleaner.

Use the vaccum cleaner or compressed air to remove the unwanted materials from the swirl devices and the plenum.

Use the soap and water to clean the air cleaner.
(4)
Flush the air cleaner with clean water.
(5)
Dry the air cleaner with the compressed air.
(6)
Use the detergent and the wiper to clean the air cleaner housing.
(7)
Flush the housing with a clean water.
(8)
Dry the housing with the wiper or compressed air.

Soak the air cleaner in the cleaning solution, at 130° F (54° C) for one hour.

Shake and flush the air cleaner in the cleaning solution bath.
(a) Use a brush to loosen and remove remaining unwanted material.
