 AIR CYCLE MACHINE (ACM) - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General_______
 A.  The air conditioning system has a left and a right air cycle machine, referred to as the ACM.
 B.  The procedure to remove the left and the right ACM is the same.

Lower the bay doors for the air conditioning equipment.

Drain the oil from the ACM (Ref 21-51-11/301).

Remove the flexible couplings of the air cycle machine at the compressor inlet duct, the compressor outlet duct and the turbine inlet duct (AMM 21-51-61/401).

Remove the water separator (AMM 21-51-31/401).

Remove the clamp that connects the water separator muff and the duct from the 35°F control valve.

 (7)  Remove the ACM from the mount assembly:
 (a)  
Remove the two forward mounting bolts.

 (b)  
Loosen the aft mounting nut and move the ACM forward (detail E, Fig. 401).

 (c)  
Do not remove the two index plate bolts that attach the index plate to the support bracket assembly.
