RAM AIR INLET DEFLECTOR SHAFT ASSEMBLY - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. The ram air inlet deflector shaft assembly is referred to as the deflector shaft assembly.

2. Ram Air Inlet Deflector Shaft Assembly Removal______________________________________________
A. General
(1) Before you remove the deflector shaft assembly, you must first remove the deflector found in the ram air inlet.

D. Prepare to Remove the Deflector Shaft Assembly

(1)
Remove the deflector found in the ram air inlet (AMM 21-52-21/401).

(2)
Remove the access panel 1305 or 1302.
E. Remove the Deflector Shaft Assembly
S 024-004
(1) Do these steps to remove the deflector shaft assembly (Fig. 401):
(a)
Disconnect the extension link from the drive arm.
(b)
Do the steps that follow to remove the drive arm: 1) Cut the lockwire on the spring pins.

2) Push the two spring pins out of the shaft and the drive arm. 3) Remove the drive arm from the shaft.
(c) Remove the lower support.
NOTE: When the lower support moves away from the
____ structure, the shaft will fall with it. This will disconnect the shaft from the upper support.
(d) Put the deflector shaft assembly at an angle and remove it.

3. Install the Ram Air Inlet Deflector Shaft Assembly

(1) Make a mark on the drive arm to show the position of the drive arm on the deflector shaft.
NOTE: Make sure you make the mark on the drive arm before you
____ remove it from the deflector shaft.

Make a mark on the new deflector shaft assembly to make sure the drive arm to deflector shaft position is the same.

Push out the two spring pins which keep the drive arms on the deflector shaft.
