EQUIPMENT COOLING BLOWER CHECK VALVES - INSPECTION/CHECK

1. General_______
A. There is one task in this procedure which is to examine the equipment cooling blower check valve.
B. AIRPLANES WITH A SEPARATELY INSTALLED CHECK VALVE FOR EACH BLOWER; There are two check valves. One check valve is downstream of the main blower for the equipment cooling system. The second check valve is downstream of the alternate blower for the equipment cooling system. The check valves and the blowers are adjacent to each other.
C. AIRPLANES WITHOUT A SEPARATELY INSTALLED CHECK VALVE FOR EACH BLOWER; There are two check valves. One check valve is downstream of the main blower for the equipment cooling system. The second check valve is downstream of the alternate blower for the equipment cooling system. The check valves are part of the equipment cooling blowers.

A. General
(1) This procedure is a check of the equipment cooling blower check valve to see if the check valve is damaged.

Remove the equipment cooling blower (AMM 21-58-12/401).

AIRPLANES WITH A SEPARATELY INSTALLED CHECK VALVE FOR EACH BLOWER; Do the steps that follow:
(a)
Remove the check valve (AMM 21-58-51/401).
(b)
Hold the check valve with the clappers pointed away from you.
(c)
Use your hand to turn the synchronizer counterclockwise until it stops.
(d)
Release the synchronizer.
(e)
Examine the check valve for these faults: 1) Clappers do not go back to 15 degrees or less of the fully
closed position 2) Valve clappers bind or scrape when moved
