3) Clappers are damaged a) If any of the above are found, replace the check valve.

(3) AIRPLANES WITHOUT A SEPARATELY INSTALLED CHECK VALVE FOR EACH BLOWER; Examine the check valve for these faults:
(a)
Corroded or contaminated valve flappers or check valve plate
(b)
Valve flappers bind when moved
(c)
Uneven wear or damage of flappers or check valve plate
1) If any of the above are found, replace the equipment cooling blower.
E. Put The Airplane Back To Its Usual Condition

AIRPLANES WITH A SEPARATELY INSTALLED CHECK VALVE FOR EACH BLOWER; Do the step that follows:
(a) Install the check valve (Ref 21-58-51/401).
(2)
Install the equipment cooling blower (AMM 21-58-12/401).

EFIS COOLING AIR CLEANER - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

1. General_______
A. The EFIS cooling system air cleaner is on the right side of the E/E compartment forward of the E3-5 shelf.

2. Remove the EFIS Cooling Air Cleaner (Fig. 201)___________________________________
A. Access

B. Prepare for the Removal

Put the mode selector switches, L IRS and R IRS, to OFF at the P5 overhead panel and attach DO-NOT-OPERATE tags.

(2)
Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
(a)
On the P18 panel:
1) NORM and ALT SUPPLY FAN CONT
(b)
On the P6 panel:
1) EFIS SYM GEN - L and R
2) EFIS CONT PANEL - L and R
3) EHSI - L and R
4) EADI - L and R

Loosen the exhaust plenum clamp that attaches to the air cleaner housing.

Loosen the clamp which is aft of the 90 degree exhaust plenum angle.

Open the latches on the side of the air cleaner housing and remove the air cleaner.

(6)
Loosen the clamp that holds the flex hose to the air cleaner purge tube and disconnect the flex hose from the purge tube.

Two methods are given to clean the air cleaner:

The first method removes most of the loose dirt and other unwanted materials.
