C. Prepare to Do a Test of the Ram Air Modulation System

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT WHEN EXTENDING OR RETRACTING THE TRAILING EDGE
_______ FLAPS PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE TRAILING EDGE FLAPS. DURING RETRACTION, THE TRAILING EDGE FLAPS CAN MOVE QUICKLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Lower the wing flaps to a position that is not fully retracted.

(2) S 865-050Set the L and R Pack switches to OFF on the P5-10 panel.
(3) S 865-024Disconnect the electrical connector D486 (left side) and D490 (right side) from the left and right pack valve limit switches.
NOTE:____ The electrical connector is on the side of the visual indicator for the pack valve.
(4) S 865-027Open this circuit breaker on the P6 panel and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag: (a) AIR/GND RELAY & LTS
(5) S 715-028Make sure that the left and right deflector doors for the ram air inlet go to the fully closed position.
(6) S 865-049Fully retract the wing flaps with electrical or hydraulic power. (a) AIRPLANES WITH RAM AIR EXHAUST LOUVERS (PRE-SB 21-1123); Make sure that the left and right inlet modulation panels and exhaust louvers close. (b) AIRPLANES WITHOUT RAM AIR EXHAUST LOUVERS (POST-SB 21-1123); Make sure that the left and right inlet modulation panels close. (c) Make sure that the RAM DOOR FULL OPEN lights go out.
(7) S 865-048Extend the wing flaps to FLAPS POS 1 using electrical or hydraulic power.
(8) S 865-046Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag and close this circuit breaker: (a) AIR/GND RELAY & LTS
(9) S 715-047Make sure these results occur: (a) AIRPLANES WITH RAM AIR EXHAUST LOUVERS (PRE-SB 21-1123); The inlet modulation panels and the exhaust louvers open. (b) AIRPLANES WITHOUT RAM AIR EXHAUST LOUVERS (POST-SB 21-1123); The inlet modulation panels open. (c) The RAM DOOR FULL OPEN lights come on. (d) The deflector doors for the ram air inlets open fully.

(10) Connect the electrical connectors D486 (left side) and D490 (right side) to the pack valve limit switch.
E. Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition

Remove electrical power if it is not necessary (AMM 24-22-00/201).

Close the access panel to the ram air inlet duct, actuator and torque shaft quadrant.

Close the access panel to the inlet modulation quadrant.

Close the bay doors to the air conditioning equipment.
