RAM AIR INLET DEFLECTOR - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. When the airplane is on the ground, the inlet deflector is in the open position.
B. To replace the inlet deflector, the mechanism that operates the inlet deflector must stay in the open position.

2. Remove the Ram Air Inlet Deflector__________________________________
A. Access
(1) Location Zones
211 Left Ram Air Duct
213 Right Ram Air Duct
B. Prepare to Remove the Inlet Deflector

Remove the electrical plug from the ram air actuator.

(2)
Loosen the three screws at the forward end of the inlet fairing (Fig. 401).
NOTE: Do not remove the three screws.

C. Remove the Inlet Deflector
S 024-005
(1) Do these steps to remove the inlet deflector:
(a)
Remove the five screws that attach the deflector hinge to the structure.
(b)
Move the deflector aft to disengage the deflector tracks from the rollers.

(c) Remove the deflector from the airplane.

B. Prepare to Install the Inlet Deflector

Make sure the arms on the shaft assembly are extended with the deflector in the open position.

(2)
Make sure the rollers on the arms turn freely.
C. Install the Ram Air Inlet Deflector

(1)
Do these steps to install the inlet deflector (Fig. 401).
(a)
Put the deflector tracks on the rollers.
(b)
Put the deflector in the correct position with the hinge below the inlet fairing.
(c)
Install the five screws through the inlet fairing and the hinge.
(d)
Tighten the three screws at the forward end of the inlet fairing.
(2)
Install the electrical plug on the ram air actuator.
