 (2)  Make sure the VBV's are in the closed position.
 NOTE: If you replace the VBV stop mechanism, make sure the stop

 mechanism is in its fully closed position.

 (a)  Use the VBV ratchet wrench to move the VBV's
 (AMM 75-32-00/201).

 NOTE: If you replace the VBV stop mechanism, make sure the
____ stop mechanism is in its fully closed position.

 CAUTION:_______MAKE SURE THAT YOU USE THE CORRECT FEEDBACK ROD. THE FEEDBACK ROD HAS A FLAT ON THE CLEVIS.
 (3)  Approximately adjust the VBV feedback rod (Fig. 501) to align the notch of the kicker stop with the lower face of the free lever.
 (a)  To adjust the VBV feedback rod, turn the clevis rod.

 (4)  
With the VBV's in their fully closed position, use a gage to measure and record the dimension L1 between the flat of the clevis rod and the surface of the rear face of the fan frame.

Use a ratchet wrench (856A2501) to open the VBV's until they reach the switch point.


 (a)  The switch point is the position where the free lever arm and the kicker stop touch (Fig. 501).

 CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE FREE LEVER AND THE RETURN LEVER TOUCH FULLY.

 (6)  
Use a pull scale to apply a tension of 15-17 lbs to the free lever arm in the direction of the feedback cable.

Use a gage to measure and record the dimension L2.


 (a)  Make sure that the reference surface on the rear face of the fan frame is the same as the one used to measure the dimension L1.

Use a ratchet wrench (856A2501) to put the VBV's in the fully closed position.

Calculate the difference DL between L1 and L2.


 NOTE: DL must be 0.33-0.35 inch (8.4 to 8.9 mm).

 Average = 0.34 inch (8.65 mm)

 (a)  
If the dimension DL is more than 0.35 inch (8.9 mm) turn the clevis rod clockwise to make the feedback rod shorter.

 (b)  
If the dimension DL is less than 0.33 inch (8.4 mm), turn the clevis counter-clockwise to make the feedback rod longer.


 NOTE: One-half turn of the clevis rod is 0.018 inch (0.45 mm).

 CAUTION: DO A CHECK TO MAKE SURE THAT THE THREAD IS ENGAGED
_______ SUFFICIENTLY. MAKE SURE A 0.08 INCH (2 MM) DIAMETER LOCKWIRE DOES NOT GO THROUGH THE WITNESS HOLE.

 After the adjustment, do the procedure again and adjust if it is necessary.

 Tighten the jamnut.

 Connect the feedback rod to the feedback free lever of the stop mechanism as follows:

 (a)  
Put the clevis end on the reverser arm.

 (b)  
Lightly lubricate the bolt threads with the grease (CP2101).

 (c)  
Install the bolt and the nut.

 (d)  
Tighten the nut to 30-45 pound-inches (3.4-5.1 Newton meters).

 

 (13)
 Close the left thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).
