 (1) Open the right fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).

Open the right thrust reverser half (AMM 78-31-00/201).

Examine the valve housing for:

 (a)  
Cracks - make a visual inspection
 1) If there are cracks, replace the valve.


 (b)  
Deformation
 1) If there is deformation, replace the valve.


 (c)  
Nicks and scratches
 1) All nicks and scratches are permitted.

 (4)  Examine the flange joints for:
 (a)  
Loose bolts or nuts
 1) Tighten the bolts to 'A' 24-27 pound-inches
 (2.7-3.1 Newton meters) as necessary (Fig. 601).
 2) Tighten the bolts to 'B' 55-70 pound-inches
 (6.2-7.9 Newton meters) as necessary (Fig. 601).
 3) Tighten the bolts to 'C' 100-130 pound-inches


 (11.3-14.6 Newton meters) as necessary (Fig. 601). 4) Safety the bolts with a lockwire.

 (b)  
Sign of an air leakage at the 5th- and 9th- stage flanges. 1) If there is a leak, replace the gasket.

 (c)  
Cracks - make a visual inspection
 1) If there are cracks, replace the valve.


 (d)  
Deformation or bends 1) If there are deformations or bends, replace the valve.

 (e)  
Sign of fuel leakage 1) If there is leakage at the forward flange, replace the gasket. 2) If there is leakage at the actuator covers, replace the valve.


 3)  If there is leakage at the actuator rod seals, replace the valve.

 (5)  Examine the linkage for:
 (a)  Uniballs that will not move freely
 1)  Lubricate all around each uniball with 3-4 drops of LPS-1 penetrating oil. a) Let the uniballs soak in the lubrication for 2-3
 minutes.
