(2)
If it is connected, disconnect the end of the VSV feedback cable from the MEC feedback arm as follows:
(a)
Remove and discard the cotter pin from the nut.
(b)
Remove the nut, bolt and washer to release the rod end bearing from the feedback arm.

(3) If it is connected, disconnect the end of the VSV feedback cable from the lever arm of the bellcrank assembly of the VSV actuator.
(a)
Remove and discard the cotter pin from the nut.
(b)
Remove the nut, bolt and washer to release the rod end bearing from the lever arm.
F. Resistance Check (Fig. 502)
S 725-005-C00
(1) With the feedback cable fully extended at the bellcrank end, do the steps that follow:
(a)
Use a lockwire to attach a pull scale to the rod end bearing at the MEC end.
(b)
Do a pull check, as follows:
1) Apply a force and increase it at a slow rate. Apply the force in a straight line (less than four degrees from the cable centerline axis). Measure the force necessary to move the cable.

(3) If the force necessary to move the cable in one of the two directions is more than 8 pounds (36 N), do the corrective action that follows:
(a) Do a check of the installation of the VSV feedback cable at the clamps and attach points.
NOTE: Do this to make sure there are no distortion areas or
____ sharp bends, and that the cable can move freely.
1) Correct the problem.
NOTE: To do this, align the clamps.
____
(b)
Do the pull check.
(c)
If the pull force is more than 8 pounds (36 N), continue the corrective action.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE CABLE INNER MEMBER IS IN THE FULLY RETRACTED
_______ POSITION WHEN THE SUPPORT TUBE AND NOSE CAP ARE REMOVED. THIS IS TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE POLISHED INNER MEMBER. DO NOT REMOVE THE SUPPORT TUBE FROM THE TWO ENDS OF THE CABLE AT THE SAME TIME.
