 NOTE: When continuous tracking is used to plot the VSV
____ schedule, it is possible for you to see the VSV's temporarily track in the open direction during the transition of the VBV's between the corrected core speed of approximately 11,815 and 12,100 rpm (CFMI SB 72-580). If the VSV's are tracking in the tolerance bands in all other locations, it is permitted to have the VSV's temporarily track beyond the open limit in this speed range.
 (i)  
Stabilization at MPA is not required. Decrease the engine speed to flight idle and let the engine become stable for 3 minutes. Make sure the VSV tracking is within limits on the computer screen.

 (j)  
Do an Acceleration Time Check (AMM 71-00-00/501, Test No. 8).

 (k)  
Decrease the engine speed to ground idle and let the engine become stable for 5 minutes.

 (l)  
Use the Power Plant Operation (Normal) procedure to do the engine shutdown (AMM 71-00-00/201).

 (m)  
If this engine dynamic rigging is done at the same time for both engines, repeat this procedure on the opposite engine to optimize the acceleration characteristics between the engines.

 (6)  Align the variable rig plate on the MEC (Fig. 506).
 (a)  Operate the VSV system to the open position (AMM 75-31-00/201).

THE FEEDBACK CABLE ROD FOR THE VSV


 -
THE ROD END HEAD END HOSES FOR THE VSV


 -
THE ATTACHED HARDWARE.
 NO CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE PARTS CAN CAUSE THE VSV TO
 OPERATE OFF SCHEDULE.

 

 (b)  
Do a check for clearance between the parts that follow: 1) The feedback cable rod for the VSV 2) The rod end head end hoses for the VSV 3) The attached hardware.

 (c)  
If it is necessary, adjust the position of the hoses to get clearance.

 (d)  
Loosen the two screws that attach the adjustable rig plate.

 (e)  
Attach a pull scale to the connection for the MEC feedback cable.

 (f)  
Apply a tension of 15-17 pounds (67-76 Newtons) to the feedback cable.

 (g)  
Move the rig plate until its rig line aligns with the rig pointer.

 (h)  
Tighten the screws to 7-9 pound-inches (0.8-1.0 Newton meters).

 (i)  
Examine the rig alignment after you tighten the screws.


 E. Put the airplane back to its usual condition

For the applicable engine, open this circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT CLOSE tag:


 (a)  P6 Load Control Center:
 1) AIRPLANES WITHOUT THE EIS SYSTEM;

 -N2 TACH IND
 2) AIRPLANES WITH THE EIS SYSTEM;

 (3)  Use the instructions in the RMS Users Manual to remove the VSV position transmitter, junction box, remote trimmer, and cables.
