ú  (c)  Apply the parting agent to the mating surfaces of the extension
 ú  ring.
 ú  1)  Let the parting agent cure until it is dry to the touch.
 ú  (d)  Apply the BMS5-63 primer and sealant as follows:
 ú  1)  Apply the BMS5-63 primer as a continuous coat to the mating
 ú  surfaces of the extension ring.
 ú  a)  Let the primer cure for a minimum of 30 minutes.
 ú 
        ú
 NOTE:____ The primer will form a chalky surface when dry.
 ú
 ú  2)  Apply the BMS5-63 sealant to the faying surface of the
 ú  strut fairing.
 (e)  Install the strut fairing with 26 screws.
 ú  1)  Use 0.025 inch x 0.375 inch (0.64 mm x 9.53 mm) spacers or
 ú  washers at each fastener location to keep the correct
 ú  sealant thickness.
 ú  2)  Do not fully install the fasteners.
 ú  (f)  Let the BMS5-63, Type 1 sealant cure at room temperature for 48
 ú  hours.
 ú 
        ú
 NOTE:____ If you use the Type 2 sealant, let the sealant cure at
 ú  room temperature for four hours.
 ú
 ú  1)  If a shorter cure time is necessary for the Type 1 sealant,
 ú  cure the sealant at 120 +/-5 degrees F for four hours.
 ú  (g)  After the sealant has cured, do a visual check to make sure the
 ú  sealant fully covers the faying surfaces.
 ú  (h)  Remove the spacers or washers and fully torque the strut
 ú  fairing fasteners.
 ú

 WARNING:_______ DO NOT GET METHYL ETHYL KETONE (MEK) IN YOUR MOUTH, OR
 ú  EYES, OR ON YOUR SKIN.  DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM THE
 ú  MEK.  PUT ON A RESPIRATOR, PROTECTIVE SPLASH GOGGLES, AND
 ú  GLOVES WHEN YOU USE THE MEK.  KEEP THE MEK AWAY FROM
 ú  SPARKS, FLAME AND HEAT.  MEK IS A POISONOUS AND FLAMMABLE
 ú  SOLVENT WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO
 ú  EQUIPMENT.

 ú  (i)  Make sure the area between the strut fairing and the extension
 ú  ring is clean.
 ú  1)  If necessary, clean the surface with solvent and rub the
 ú  surface dry.

ú ú  (j) (k)  If the temperature of the sealing surfaces is below 50°F (10°C), flow warm air (not more than 120°F [50°C]) along the structure to make the surfaces warm.Use a brush or spray to apply 1200 red primer in the areabetween the strut fairing and the extension ring.
 NOTE:____ Permit a minimum of one hour for the primer to dry before you apply the sealant.
 ú ú ú  (l) (m) (n)  Apply the DC 93-006-1 (aerodynamic) sealant to the area betweenthe strut fairing and the extension ring as shown in Fig. 401 (View A).Rub the sealant to get a smooth finish.Let the sealant cure for ten hours.
 ú ú ú ú  NOTE:____ A ten hour cure time is for usual conditions of 77 |2°F (25 |1°C) and 50 |5% relative humidity. The cure time can be made faster if you flow warm air (not more than 120°F [50°C]) along the sealant. You can also make the sealing surfaces warm before you apply the sealant.Airplane operation is permitted after a cure time offour hours.
 S 724-027-C00 (19) Do a check of the static rigging of the VBV feedback cable (AMM 75-32-05/501).
