 (6)  Engage the splines in the stop mechanism and the fuel gear motor of the bleed valve.
 NOTE: It can be necessary to turn the main flexible shaft a small

 number of degrees (16 degrees maximum). This is to engage
 the splines of the fuel gear motor.

Do a check that the stop mechanism for the bleed valve stays in the fully closed position.

Install the stop mechanism for the bleed valve and the fuel gear motor as follow:

 (a)  
Align the stop mechanism for the bleed valve to the fan frame.

 (b)  
Put the hexagonal end of the main flexible shaft into the
 hexagonal drive of the master ballscrew actuator.

 

 

 NOTE: To engage the main flexible shaft, it can be necessary
____ to turn the shaft a small number of degrees (30 degrees maximum).
 (c)  
Use seven bolts, lightly lubricated with grease, to attach the mechanism to the fan frame.

 (d)  
Hand tighten the bolts.

 (9)  Connect the feedback rod to the feedback reverser arm of the VBV as follows:
 (a)  Lubricate the exposed sides of the uniballs, with three to four drops of water repellant (CP2857). 1) Let the lubricant soak for 2-3 minutes. 2) Manually turn the uniballs in all directions.
 NOTE: If binding or frozen slightly, use an open-end
____ wrench on the linkage to turn the rod end.
 3) Apply three to four more drops of lubricant if it is necessary. 4) Move the uniballs in all directions until movement is smooth and free. 5) Wipe off the excess lubricant.
 (b)  
Put the clevis end on the reverser arm.

 (c)  
Lightly lubricate the bolt threads with grease.

 (d)  
Install the bolt with the bolt head on the same side as the
 compressor stator case.


 (e)  
Hand tighten the bolt.

NOTE: Engines on which CFMI SB 72-235 is not done, do not have
____ a self-locking nut. It is necessary on these engines to install the washer, slotted nut and cotter pin. It is also necessary to attach the clevis end on the reverser arm. Torque the nut to 30-45 pound-inches (3.4-5.1 Newton meters).
