Put the N2 indicator cable through the access door for the CSD oil fill.

 (j)  
Attach the test cable for the N2 indicator to the control alternator.

 (k)  
Attach the N2 indicator plug, D552, to the shorter lead of the test cable for the N2 indicator.

 (l)  
Install the VSV and N2 cables through to the test set for the VSV position/N2 indicator which is on the flight deck. 1) Safety the cables where it is necessary.

 (m)  
Connect the N2 and VSV cables to the indicator test set.

 (n)  
Connect the signal condition unit to the large connector found at the top of the indicator test set.

 (o)  
AIRPLANES WITHOUT THE EIS SYSTEM; For engine No. 1, remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag and close this circuit breaker: 1) P6 Load Control Center

 (4)  Set the test equipment for the VSV dynamic rigging.
 CAUTION: YOU MUST USE THE AIRPLANE N2 INDICATION ON THE PILOTS
_______ CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL WHEN YOU USE THE 856A1214 P02 TEST SET. THE N2 INDICATOR ON THE TEST SET GIVES AN INCORRECT N2 VALUE FOR THE CFM56-3 SWITCH POSITION.
 (a)  Set the test set switches for the N2 indicator to the CFM56-3, and N2 % positions.
 CAUTION: THE 856A1214 P02 INDICATOR TEST SET MUST HAVE A CONTINUOUS
_______ SUPPLY OF POWER. IF YOU DO NOT SUPPLY THIS EQUIPMENT WITH A CONTINUOUS SUPPLY OF AIRPLANE POWER, DAMAGE TO THE TEST SET WILL OCCUR.
 (b)  Connect the indicator test set to a power source.
 NOTE: The power supply for the indicator unit operates on 110
____
 volts AC, 60 or 400 Hz.

 (c)  
Put the power switch on the test set to the ON position.

 (d)  
Operate the stator system to the open position (actuator rod retracted) (AMM 75-31-00/201).

CAUTION: YOU MUST DO A RIG CHECK FOR THE VSV ACTUATOR TO BELLCRANK
_______ ASSEMBLY. A VISUAL INSPECTION OF THE RIG HOLE IS NOT SUFFICIENT.
 (e)  Make sure the VSV actuators to the bellcrank assemblies are adjusted correctly as follows: 1) Operate the VSV system to the full open position (actuator
 rods retracted) with an external pressure source (AMM 75-31-00/201). 2) Try to install the rigging pins in the rigging pin holes in the left and right VSV bellcrank assemblies.
 3)  If the rig pin holes do not align to permit an easy rigging pin installation, adjust the actuator rod as follows: a) Loosen the jamnut and the key lock from the actuator
 rod.
 CAUTION: USE THE ACTUATOR ROD HEX ONLY TO TURN THE ROD.
_______ DAMAGE TO THE ROD SURFACE CAN CAUSE A ROD SEAL LEAKAGE DURING AN OPERATION.
 b)  Turn the actuator rods on or off the clevis threads to align the holes and install the rig pins.
 CAUTION: YOU MUST ALIGN THE KEY LOCK AND HEX NOTCH ON THE
_______ ACTUATOR ROD BEFORE YOU TIGHTEN THE JAMNUT. IF YOU DO NOT ALIGN THE KEY LOCK AND HEX NOTCH, DAMAGE TO THE KEY LOCK CAN OCCUR.
 c) Turn the actuator rods to engage the key locks into the nearest hex notch of the actuator rod. d) Tighten the jamnuts while you hold the actuator rod hex in its position.
