 1.  General

 A.  The inspection of the variable bleed valve (VBV) and ballscrew actuator is a visual inspection for general condition.

 C.  Procedure
 S 016-002-C00
 (1)
Open the left thrust reverser half (AMM 78-31-00/201).

 (2)
Remove the applicable fan duct panel (AMM 72-33-03/401).

 (3)
Do a visual inspection of the components that follow:


 (a) Examine the bleed valve doors for these:
 1)  Distortion is not permitted, replace the bleed valve (AMM 75-32-04/401).
 CAUTION: A DAMAGED SEAL HAS AN IMPACT ON THE ENGINE
_______ PERFORMANCE AND THE EGT MARGIN LOSS. A LOSS IN ENGINE PERFORMANCE CAN OCCUR IF YOU DO NOT REPLACE THE SEAL.
 2)  Seal damage is permitted, if the engine parameters are in the limits. a) If the engine parameters are not in the limits, replace
 the bleed valve (AMM 75-32-04/401).

VARIABLE BLEED VALVE FEEDBACK CABLE - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General
_______
 A.  This procedure gives the removal and installation of the variable bleed valve (VBV) feedback cable.
 B.  The cable connects to the VBV feedback arm on the aft end of the main engine control (MEC).
 C.  It goes up through the forward part of the 6 o'clock strut area.
 D.  It connects to the feedback reverser arm on the stop mechanism of the bleed valve at the 9 o'clock position.

 2.  Remove the Variable Bleed Valve Feedback Cable

Open the thrust reverser halves (AMM 78-31-00/201).

Disconnect the end of the VBV feedback cable from the reverser arm on the stop mechanism of the bleed valve as follows:
