 (2)  With the feedback cable fully extended at the MEC end, attach a pull scale to the clevis at the stop mechanism end.
 NOTE: Use a lockwire.

 (a)  Do a pull check.
 NOTE: To do this, apply a force in a straight line (less than
____ 4 degrees from the cable centerline axis). Increase the force at a slow rate. Measure the force necessary to move the cable.

 (3)  If the force necessary to move the cable in one of the two directions is more than 6 pounds (27 N), do the corrective action as follows:
 (a)  Do a check of the VBV feedback cable installation at the clamps and the cable attach points.
 NOTE: Do this to make sure there are no distortion areas,
____
 sharp bends, and that it can move freely.

 1)  Correct the problem.
 NOTE: To do this, align the clamps.
____
 (b)  Do the pull check.
 1)  If the pull force is more than 6 pounds (27 N), continue the corrective action.
 CAUTION: PUT THE CABLE INNER MEMBER IN THE FULLY RETRACTED POSITION
_______ WHEN THE SUPPORT TUBE AND NOSE CAP ARE REMOVED. THIS IS TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE POLISHED INNER MEMBER. DO NOT REMOVE THE SUPPORT TUBE FROM THE TWO ENDS OF THE CABLE AT THE SAME TIME.
 (c)  With the inner member for the feedback cable fully retracted at the stop mechanism end, remove the support tube. 1) Count and write down the number of turns necessary to
 remove the clevis and jam nut.
 NOTE: This is to keep the cable length constant during
____
 the installation.

 2)  Loosen the nose cap.

CAUTION: DO NOT PERMIT DIRT OR UNWANTED MATERIAL TO GET INTO

 THE OPEN END OF THE CABLE.

 3)  Remove the nose cap and the support tube assembly from the feedback cable.
 (d)  Do a visual check of the open part of the inner member for damage or bends.
 NOTE: Do this with the cable inner member fully extended at
____
 the stop mechanism end.

 1)  Make the inner member straight, by hand.
 (e)  
Retract the cable inner member at the stop mechanism end.

 (f)  
Install the nose cap and support tube assembly.


 NOTE: Make sure the washer is installed on the nose cap side
____
 of the bracket.

 CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES WHEN YOU TIGHTEN THE NOSE CAP SO THE
_______ CABLE WILL NOT TWIST. USE ONE WRENCH ON THE CONDUIT CAP AND ONE ON THE NOSE CAP.
 (g)  
Tighten the nose cap to 180-200 pound-inches (20.3-22.6 Newton meters).

 (h)  
Install a lockwire.

 (i)  
Install the clevis end and jamnut. 1) Turn the clevis end and jamnut on the cable.


 NOTE: Use the same number of turns as necessary to remove
____
 the clevis.

 2) Do a check that the threads are sufficiently engaged.
 NOTE: To do this, make sure a 0.032 inch (0.80 mm)
____ diameter lockwire does not go through the witness hole.
 3)  Tighten the jamnut against the clevis end to
 60-70 pound-inches (6.8-7.9 Newton meters).

 (j)  Do the pull check.
 1)  If the pull force is more than 6 pounds (27 N), do a check of the inner member of the feedback cable.
