 (8)  If no contamination is found, reinstall the filter screens.
 (a)  
Install the filters into the OPEN and CLOSED ports of the fuel gear motor.

 (b)  
Make sure the depth of the filter screen is between
 0.57-0.60 inch (14.48-15.28 mm.) (Fig. 601).

 WARNING:_______DO NOT LET ENGINE OIL STAY ON YOUR SKIN. USE ENGINE OIL IN AREA WITH GOOD VENTILATION. ENGINE OIL IS POISONOUS AND CAN BE ABSORBED THROUGH YOUR SKIN. ENGINE OIL FUMES CAN IRRITATE YOUR RESPIRATORY TRACT.
 (9)  Do these steps to install the two nipples in the fuel gear motor.
 (a)  
Lightly lubricate two new O-rings with engine oil and install the O-rings on the nipples.

 (b)  
Lightly lubricate the threads of the nipples with engine oil.

 (c)  
Install the two nipples into the OPEN and CLOSED ports of the fuel gear motor.

 (d)  
Tighten the nipples to 180-200 pound inches (20-22 N.m).

 (10) Do these steps to connect the VBV OPEN and CLOSED tubes to the fuel gear motor:
 WARNING:_______DO NOT LET ENGINE OIL STAY ON YOUR SKIN. USE ENGINE OIL IN AREA WITH GOOD VENTILATION. ENGINE OIL IS POISONOUS AND CAN BE ABSORBED THROUGH YOUR SKIN. ENGINE OIL FUMES CAN IRRITATE YOUR RESPIRATORY TRACT.
 (a)  
Lightly coat four new O-rings with engine oil and install two O-rings on each tube. 1) Install one O-ring on the groove of the fixed sleeve of the

 external tube. 2) Install one O-ring on the groove of the sliding sleeve.

 (b)  
Install the connecting nut of the internal tube on the nipple. 1) Tighten the nut to 270-300 pound-inches (30.5-33.9 N.m).

 (11) Do a leak test of the fuel fittings on the fuel gear motor (Fig. 602).
 (a)  
Put a container below the tube connections of the VBV open and closed ends at the MEC to catch fuel.

 (b)  
Disconnect the coupling nuts of the VBV open and closed end
 from the MEC OPEN and CLOSE fittings.


 (c)  
Seal the MEC fittings with caps.

 (d)  
Connect the supply and return hoses from the hydraulic cart
 pump to the VBV open and closed end tubes (Fig. 602).

(e)  Use fuel or oil (CP2369) to operate the VBV system to the open door position.
 NOTE: To do this, apply and keep a pressure of 200-300 psi
____ (1400-2100 kPa) to the open end tube of the VBV. When the VBV system opens, it must move smoothly and freely. It must start to open at 70 psi (450 kPa). It must continue until it gets to the stop position. A fast change in the gage pressure to a higher value is an indication of the stop position.
 (f)  Do a check for leaks at each fuel tube connection.
 NOTE: No leakage is permitted.

 (g)  Operate the VBV system to the close door position.
 NOTE: To do this, keep a pressure of 200-300 psi
____ (1400-2100 kPa) to the close end tube of the VBV.
 (h)  
Do the check for leaks at each fuel tube connection.
