(1) Open the left fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).

WARNING: OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE PROCEDURE TO OPEN THE THRUST
_______ REVERSERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS WHEN YOU OPEN THE THRUST REVERSERS, INJURIES TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.

Open the left thrust reverser half (AMM 78-31-00/201).

(3)
Disconnect the end of the VBV feedback cable from the MEC feedback arm.
(a)
Loosen the fillister head screw.
(b)
Remove the retainer clip from the MEC feedback arm.
(c)
Remove the pin to release the rod end bearing from the feedback arm.

(4) Operate the VBV system to the closed door position.
NOTE:____Do not motor the engine to operate the VBV system. You can motor the engine only if the hydraulic cart or a dual purpose ratchet wrench is not available.
(a)
Move the MEC feedback arm away from the cable attachment bracket and hold it in position (this gives a signal to the MEC that the VBV doors are too far open).
(b)
Dry motor the engine (AMM 71-00-00/201) to drive the VBV system to the full closed position.
NOTE: Do not release the feedback arm until the core engine

does not turn.

(5) Operate the VBV system to the open door position.
NOTE:____Do not motor the engine to operate the VBV system. You can motor the engine only if the hydraulic cart or a dual purpose ratchet wrench is not available.

(b) Dry motor the engine (AMM 71-00-00/201) to move the VBV system to the full open position.
NOTE: Do not release the feedback arm until the core engine

(6) Connect the end of the VBV feedback cable to the MEC feedback arm.
(a)
Align the rod end bearing with the feedback arm.
(b)
Install the pin.
(c)
Install the retainer clip and the fillister head screw.
(d)
Tighten the screw to 24-27 pound-inch (2.7-3.1 Newton meters).
