S 784-056-C00
(1) Do the pressure test.
(a) Connect the hydraulic cart as follows (Fig. 402): 1) Disconnnect the VSV head and rod end coupling nuts (tube to hose) at the main engine control (MEC).
2) Connect the hydraulic cart supply and return hoses to the VSV head and rod end fuel tubes.
NOTE: Dry air, nitrogen or an argon source can be used if
____ the hydraulic cart pump is not available.
S 784-024-C00
(2) Do a pressure test of the fuel tubes for leaks (Fig. 402).

CAUTION:_______DO NOT USE MORE THAN 300 PSI (2100 KPA) PRESSURE. DAMAGE CAN BE CAUSED TO THE ENGINE PARTS.
(a) With the hydraulic cart supply and return hoses connected, do the check that follows: 1) Make sure all the fuel tube connections are leak tight.
NOTE: To do this, apply pressure through the VSV head and
____ rod end fuel supply tubes at the MEC. The pressure must be 200-300 psi (1400-2100 kPA). If dry air, nitrogen, or an argon source is used, apply a leak detector to each connection.
a) Do a check for leaks at each connection.
b) No indication of leaks is permitted.
(b)
Release the pressure and disconnect the hydraulic cart supply and return hoses from the VSV head and rod end fuel tubes.
(c)
Connect the coupling nuts of the head and rod end of the VSV
(tube to hose).
(d)
Tighten them to 135-150 pound-inches (15.3-17.0 Newton meters).
S 434-025-C00
(3) Connect the head and rod end shrouds.
(a)
Hand tighten the head and rod end shrouds.
