Open the thrust reverser halves (AMM 78-31-00/201).

Operate the stator system to the open position (actuator rod

 CAUTION: YOU MUST DO A RIG CHECK FOR THE VSV ACTUATOR TO BELLCRANK

 ASSEMBLY. A VISUAL INSPECTION OF THE RIG HOLE IS NOT
 SUFFICIENT.

 (c)  AIRPLANES WITH CFM56-3B-1 ENGINES;
 AIRPLANES WITH CFM56-3B-2 ENGINES;
 Make sure the VSV actuators to the bellcrank assemblies are
 adjusted correctly as follows:

 NOTE: The VSV actuator rod on CFM56-3C-1 engines is not
____ adjustable. Thus, the VSV actuator to the bellcrank assembly rigging is not necessary.
 1)  Use an external pressure source to operate the VSV system to the full open position (actuator rods retracted) (AMM 75-31-00/201).
 2)  Try to install the rig pins in the rig pin holes in the left and right VSV bellcrank assemblies. If the rig pin holes do not align to permit an easy rig pin installation, adjust the actuator rod as follows: a) Loosen the jamnut and the key lock from the actuator
 rods.
 CAUTION: USE ONLY THE ACTUATOR ROD HEX TO TURN THE ROD.
_______ DAMAGE TO THE ROD SURFACE CAN CAUSE A ROD SEAL LEAKAGE DURING AN OPERATION.
 b)  Turn the actuator rods on or off the clevis threads to align the holes and install the rig pins.
 CAUTION: YOU MUST ALIGN THE KEY LOCK AND HEX NOTCH ON THE
_______ ACTUATOR ROD BEFORE YOU TIGHTEN THE JAMNUT. IF YOU DO NOT ALIGN THE KEY LOCK AND HEX NOTCH, DAMAGE TO THE KEY LOCK CAN OCCUR.
