Lightly lubricate the bolt threads with grease.

Install the bolt, washer and slotted nut.

Tighten the nut to 50-55 pound-inches (5.7-6.2 Newton meters) while you align the nut slot with the cotter pin hole.


 NOTE: Replace the nut if you cannot get the minimum torque
____ value or if you get more than the maximum torque value.
 (f)  Install and bend the cotter pin on the two sides of the nut.

 (14) Connect the VBV fuel supply.
 NOTE: Connect all the other tubes that were disconnected (at the 9
____ o'clock tube assembly) to make removal of the bleed valve easier.

 WARNING:_______DO NOT LET ENGINE OIL STAY ON YOUR SKIN. USE ENGINE OIL IN AREA WITH GOOD VENTILATION. ENGINE OIL IS POISONOUS AND CAN BE ABSORBED THROUGH YOUR SKIN. ENGINE OIL FUMES CAN IRRITATE YOUR RESPIRATORY TRACT.
 (15) Drain the tubes as follows:
 (a)  
Lightly lubricate some new o-rings with engine oil.

 (b)  
Install the o-rings in the groove on the nipples of the fuel supply tube and fuel drain tube.

 (c)  
Lightly lubricate the nipple threads with engine oil.

 (d)  
Install the nipples the fuel gear motor.

 (e)  
Tighten the nipples to 135-150 pound-inches
 (15.3-17.0 Newton meters).


 (f)  
Lightly lubricate four bolt threads with grease.

 (g)  
Install the two centering plates with two bolts each.

 (h)  
Tighten the bolts to 95-105 pound-inches
 (10.7-11.9 Newton meters).


 (i)  
Install lockwire on the nipples of the fuel supply and the drain tube.

 (j)  
Apply a light layer of engine oil to the tube coupling nuts.

 (k)  
Connect the two fuel supply tubes and the fuel drain tube.

 (l)  
Tighten the tube coupling nuts of the VBV open and closed end to 270-300 pound-inches (30.5-33.9 Newton meters).

 (m)  
Tighten the coupling nut of the fuel drain tube to
 135-150 pound-inches (15.3-17.0 Newton meters).


 (n)  
Lightly lubricate the threads with grease and install the bolt that attaches the two components that follow: 1) The clamps on the VBV open and closed end fuel supply


 tubes. 2) The bracket found below the transfer gearbox housing. 3) Tighten the bolt to 55-60 pound-inches
 (6.2-6.8 Newton meters).
 (o)  
Tighten the bolts that attach the 9 o'clock tube assembly clamp to 95-105 pound-inches (10.7-11.9 Newton meters).

 (p)  
Tighten the bolts that attach the tube clamps for fuel drain to 95-105 pound-inches (10.7-11.9 Newton meters).

 (16) Do a leak test of the fuel fittings on the fuel gear motor of the bleed valve.
 (a)  Put a container below the tube connections of the VBV open and
 closed ends at the MEC to catch fuel.
 (b)  Disconnect the coupling nuts of the VBV open and closed end
 from the MEC OPEN and CLOSE fittings.
 (c)  Seal the MEC fittings with caps.
 (d)  Connect the supply and return hoses from the hydraulic cart
 pump to the VBV open and closed end tubes (Fig. 402).
 (e)  Use fuel or oil (CP2369) to operate the VBV system to the open
 door position.
 NOTE: To do this, apply and keep a pressure of 200-300 psi____
