(b)  At the left VSV actuator bellcrank, do these steps: 1) Disconnect the cable rod end from the VSV actuator bellcrank. 2) Remove the rod end bearing and jamnut from the end of the
 cable. 3) Remove the nose end cap assembly. 4) Remove the cable from the first bracket closest to the VSV
 actuator.

 (3)  Do these steps to clean the VSV feedback cable:
 NOTE: The procedures to clean and examine the VSV feedback cable
____ are done at each end of the cable. The procedure begins at the MEC end of the cable.
 CAUTION:_______DO NOT USE TOO MUCH FORCE TO PULL THE CABLE. THE CABLE CANNOT BE FULLY REMOVED WHEN INSTALLED ON THE ENGINE. TOO MUCH FORCE CAN DAMAGE THE TEFLON LINER OF THE CASING ASSSEMBLY.
 (a)  From the MEC end of the VSV feedback cable, pull the cable as far as possible out of the conduit without using too much force.
 NOTE: Approximately 12 inches (304.8 mm) can be seen.

 (b)  Wipe the open areas of the cable assembly and end fittings clean. 1) Use a soft bristle brush or clean cloth wet with alcohol
 (CP1041) or solvent (CP1039).

 (4)  Do these steps to examine the VSV feedback cable:
 (a)
Examine the threaded areas for crossed or stripped threads.

 1)  Minor damage to the threads of the casing assembly anchor sleeves can be repaired per standard practice.

 (b)  
Look for separation of the assembly anchor sleeves.
 1) Replace the casing assembly if damaged.


 (c)  
Look for cuts on the flexible casing assembly.
 1) Replace the casing assembly if damaged.


 (d)  
Make sure the end fitting of the cable assembly is not bent. 1) Replace the cable assembly if the end fitting is bent.

(e)  Make sure the cable assemby is not frayed or kinked.
 1)  Replace the cable assembly if kinked or if individual strands are broken or loose.

Do the procedures to clean and examine the VSV feedback cable again at the left VSV actuator end of the cable.

 (6)  
Do these steps to assemble the VSV feedback cable at each end of the cable:

 (a)  
Lubricate the open areas of the cable assembly with a light layer of grease, DC-33 (CP2638). 1) Remove any unwanted grease until a light layer stays.

 (b)  
Carefully put the part of the conduit cap with threads into the slotted mounting bracket.

 (c)  
Install the nose cap assembly onto the casing assembly end facing the bulkhead fitting sleeve and tighten with your hand.

 (d)  
Install the nose cap assembly onto the casing assembly end facing the bulkhead fitting flat face and tighten with your hand.

 


 CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES WHEN YOU TIGHTEN THE NOSE CAP TO HOLD THE
_______ CABLE. IF YOU PERMIT THE CABLE TO TURN, DAMAGE TO THE CABLE CAN OCCUR.
