 VSV angle is more OPEN.

 (w)  
Make sure the VSV's are in the limits. 1) If the VSV position is out of the limit, adjust the VSV's the minimum distance necessary to put it back in the limit.

 2)  Go back to the Dynamic Rigging Check for the VSV step in this procedure and continue.

 (x)  
Decrease the engine speed to ground idle and let the engine
 become stable for 5 minutes.


 (y)  
Use the Power Plant Operation (Normal) procedure to do the
 engine shut-down (AMM 71-00-00/201).

 (8)  Align the variable rig plate on the MEC (Fig. 506).
 (a)  Operate the VSV system to the OPEN position (AMM 75-31-00/201).
 CAUTION: MAKE SURE THERE IS CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE PARTS THAT

THE FEEDBACK CABLE ROD FOR THE VSV


 -
THE ROD END HEAD END HOSES FOR THE VSV


 -
THE ATTACHED HARDWARE.
 NO CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE PARTS CAN CAUSE THE VSV TO
 OPERATE OFF SCHEDULE.

 

 (b)  
Do a check for clearance between:

 -
The feedback cable rod for the VSV

 -
The rod end head end hoses for the VSV

 -
The attached hardware.

 

 (c)  
If it is necessary, adjust the position of the hoses to get
 clearance.


 (d)  
Loosen the two screws that attach the adjustable rig plate.

 (e)  
Attach a pull scale to the connection for the MEC feedback
 cable.


 (f)  
Apply a tension of 15-17 pounds (67-76 Newtons) to the feedback cable.

 (g)  
Move the rig plate until its rig line aligns with the rig
 pointer.


 (h)  
Tighten the screws to 7-9 pound-inches (0.8-1.0 Newton meters).

 (i)  
Examine the rig alignment after you tighten the screws.

E. Put the airplane back to its usual condition.

 (1)  Remove the VSV position/N2 indicator.
 (a)  
Put the unit power switch to the OFF position and disconnect the unit from the power source.

 (b)  
Disconnect the N2 and VSV cables from the indicator.

Remove the VSV position transmitter and cables.

 For engine No. 1, open this circuit breaker and attach a
 DO-NOT-CLOSE tag:

 1) N2 TACH IND

 (4)  AIRPLANES WITHOUT THE EIS SYSTEM; For engine No. 2, open this circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag:
 (a)  P6 Load Control Center
 1) N2 TACH IND

 (5)  AIRPLANES WITH THE EIS SYSTEM;
 For engine No. 1, open these circuit breakers and attach
 DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:

 (a)  P6 Load Control Center
 1) EIS PRI2
 2) EIS PRI4

 S 865-094-C00
 (6)  AIRPLANES WITH THE EIS SYSTEM;
 For engine No. 2, open these circuit breakers and attach
 DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:

 (a)  P6 Load Control Center
 1) EIS PRI2

 (7)  S 865-022-C00Disconnect the N2 indicator lead from the control alternator and airplane N2 cable.
