Open the left and right thrust reverser halves (AMM 78-31-00/201).

Do a check of the components that follow:
(a)
Examine the end fittings for damage or bends. 1) No damage or bends is permitted. 2) If they are not serviceable, replace the cable
(AMM 75-31-02/401).
(b)
Examine the end fittings for marks.
1) No marks are permitted. a) Polish the surface to remove marks.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE FEEDBACK CABLE ROD-END BEARINGS HAVE SMOOTH
_______ OPERATION. IF THE FEEDBACK CABLE ROD-END BEARINGS ARE SEIZED OR BINDING, THE FEEDBACK CABLE CAN BECOME STRESSED AND BREAK.
(c) Examine the uniballs on the rod-end bearing to see if they are seized or binding. 1) ENGINES PRE-CFMI-SB 72-667;
(ENGINES WITH ROD-END BEARINGS WITH UNIBALLS STAKED IN WITH
TEFLON SLEEVES);
Examine the uniballs on the rod-end bearing.
NOTE: Do not lubricate the Teflon-lined bearing.

a) With the rod-end disconnected from the lever arm, turn the inner bearing with your fingers. b) If there is seizing or binding, replace the feedback cable (AMM 75-31-02/401).
2) ENGINES POST-CFMI-SB 72-667;
(ENGINES WITH ROD-END BEARINGS WITH DROP-IN UNIBALLS);
Examine the uniballs on the rod-end bearing.
a) With the rod-end disconnected from the lever arm,
lubricate the two sides of the uniballs on the rod end
bearing with LPS-1 penetrating oil. b) Let the uniballs soak in the oil for 2-3 minutes. c) Turn the uniballs back and forth in the two directions
fully three times, until there is a smooth operation of the uniballs. d) If more oil is necessary for smooth operation, do the
above steps again. e) Wipe off all unwanted oil with a lint free cloth. f) If there is seizing or binding, replace the feedback
cable (AMM 75-31-02/401).
3) ENGINES POST-CFMI-SB 72-790;
(ENGINES WITH TEFLON-LINED ROD-END BEARINGS);
Examine the uniballs on the rod-end bearing.
NOTE: Do not lubricate the Teflon-lined bearing.
