S 862-015-C00
 (4)  Operate the VSV system to the closed position (VSV actuator rod extended).
 (a)  
Move the MEC feedback arm away from the cable attachment bracket and hold it in this position (this signals the MEC that the stator vanes are too far open).

 (b)  
Dry motor the engine (AMM 71-00-00/201) to drive the VSV system to the fully closed position.


 NOTE: Do not release the feedback arm until the core engine

 has stopped.

 (5)  Operate the VSV system to the open position (VSV actuator rod retracted).
 (a)  Move the MEC feedback arm toward the cable attachment bracket and hold it in this position (this signals the MEC that the stator vanes are too far closed).
 CAUTION: MONITOR AND STAY CLEAR OF THE VSV FEEDBACK CABLE WHEN YOU
_______ OPERATE THE THE VSV'S TO THE OPEN POSITION. THE VSV FEEDBACK CABLE CAN CAUSE INJURY WHEN THE VSV'S OPERATE.
 (b)  Dry motor the engine (AMM 71-00-00/201) to drive the VSV system to the fully open position.
 NOTE: Do not release the feedback arm until the core engine

 (6)  Connect the end of the VSV feedback cable to the MEC feedback arm.
 (a)  
Position the rod end bearing to the VSV feedback cable on the inboard side of the MEC feedback arm.

 (b)  
Align the rod end bearing with the feedback arm and install the bolt and the washer from the inboard side.

(c)  Install the nut on the outboard side of the MEC feedback arm.
 1)  Tighten the nut to 20-40 pound-inches
 (2.3-4.5 Newton meters).
 NOTE:____ Align the nut slot with the cotter pin hole.
 2)  Replace the nut if you cannot get the minimum torque value
 or if the torque value is more than the maximum limit.
 (d)  Install the cotter pin and bend the ends around the nut flats.

 S 412-025-C00 WARNING: OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE PROCEDURE TO CLOSE THE THRUST
_______ REVERSERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS WHEN YOU CLOSE THE THRUST REVERSER, INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
 (7)  
Close the left thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201). S 412-026-C00

 (8)  
Close the left fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).

VARIABLE STATOR VANE ACTUATION SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

 1.  General
_______
 A.  This procedure contains two tasks. The first task is the stage-to-stage rigging of the variable stator vanes (VSV). The second task is the dynamic rigging of the VSV's.
 B.  The stage-to-stage rigging checks include the VSV actuator with bellcrank assemblies, and bellcrank assemblies with the actuation rings.
 C.  These checks are used also with the trouble shooting procedure.
 D.  The VSV dynamic rigging adjusts the vane position for better engine performance, such as acceleration time (further open) or stall margin (further closed).
 E.  In addition to the CFMI tool and procedure, there are two alternate vendor tools listed for the VSV dynamic rigging procedure.
