2) Manually turn the linkages in the opposite direction. a) If the linkage binds or is frozen, use an open-end wrench on the linkages.
3) After you move the linkage in the opposite direction fully, lubricate the exposed area of the uniballs with 3-4 drops of LPS-1. a) Turn the linkage back to its original position.
4) Lubricate all around each uniball with 3-4 drops of LPS-1 penetrating oil. a) Turn the linkage back and forth in all directions
fully, three times, until there is smooth operation of the uniballs. 5) If more lubrication is necessary for smooth operation, do
all of the above steps again. 6) Wipe off all unwanted oil with a lint free cloth. 7) If the uniballs will not move freely, replace the valve.
(b) Worn uniballs
1) Worn uniballs are permitted, if the 5th- or 9th- stage linkages do not go over center. a) If the 5th- or 9th- stage linkages have gone over
center, replace the valve.
(c)
Actuator valve rods that are not retracted
1) If the actuator valve rods are not retracted, replace the valve.
(d)
Bent sections
1) If there are bent sections, replace the valve.
(e)
Loose nuts 1) If the nuts are loose, tighten or replace the nuts. 2) Tighten the nuts to 32-37 pound-inches
(3.6-4.2 Newton meters).

(6) Examine the name plate for loose connections.
(a)
If the name plate is loose, tighten or replace the screws.
(b)
Tighten the screws to 3-5 pound-inches
(0.3-0.6 Newton meters).
(c)
Safety the screws with a lockwire.

HIGH PRESSURE TURBINE CLEARANCE CONTROL TIMER - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES
_____________________________________________________________________ (DEACTIVATION)
______________
1. General
_______
A. This procedure gives steps for the High Pressure Turbine Clearance Control (HPTCC) Timer deactivation. You must do the HPTCC Timer deactivation before you do an engine run at high power. This will give satisfactory clearances for the High Pressure Turbine (HPT) blades.
NOTE: In this procedure, a "high power" engine run is one in which the
____
N2 rpm is more than 94%.
B. The one task for the HPTCC timer deactivation is the electrical
deactivation procedure.
C. The electrical deactivation procedure is used to give an airborne condition and prevent the timer activation.
D. The accel deactivation procedure for the HPTCC timer was deleted because the %N1 trigger point values were not reliable. The %N1 trigger point values were not reliable because of barometric pressure and temperature changes. If a 'high power' engine run of more than 94% N2 is occurs, the HPTCC timer must be deactivated. The timer is activated at 95.7% N2.
