CAUTION: ALIGN THE KEY LOCK AND THE ACTUATOR HEX NOTCH BEFORE
_______ YOU TIGHTEN THE JAMNUT. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE KEY LOCK.
 5) Turn the actuator rod to engage the key lock into the nearest actuator rod notch. 6) Tighten the jamnut while you hold the actuator rod in position by the hex flats on the rod end.
 NOTE: It could be necessary to change a standard wrench to
____ hold the hex flats of the actuator rod. The hex flats are 17/32 inch (13.494 mm).
 7) Install lockwire to attach the key lock to the jamnut. 8) Remove the rig pin from the bellcrank assembly. 9) Release the pressure from the rod end.
 NOTE: Do not disconnect the hydraulic cart supply and the
____
 return hoses at this time.

 (k)  
To continue the installation of the right VSV actuator, install the drain line on the actuator. 1) Tighten it to 135-150 pound-inches

 (15.3-17.0 Newton meters).

 (l)  
If the left VSV actuator is to be installed, do the steps that follow: 1) If the actuator drain port is not sealed, do the steps that


 follow:
 a) Lubricate a new o-ring with petrolatum.
 b) Install the o-ring on the plug.
 c) Install the plug in the drain port.
 d) Tighten the plug to 135-150 pound-inches

 (15.3-17.0 Newton meters). 2) Remove the three bolts and washers from the actuator rod end cover. 3) Put the mounting bracket of the VSV feedback cable on the rod end cover.
 4)  Attach the mounting bracket of the VSV feedback cable with the three bolts and washers (washers installed between the bracket and cover).
 5)  Tighten the bolts to 100-130 pound-inches
 (11-15 Newton meters).

CAUTION: DO NOT PERMIT THE CABLE TO TWIST, USE TWO WRENCHES
_______ WHEN YOU TIGHTEN THE NOSE CAP. USE ONE WRENCH ON THE CONDUIT CAP AND ONE ON THE NOSE CAP.
 6) Carefully put the part of the conduit cap with threads into
 the slotted mounting bracket. ú a) ENGINES PRE-CFMI-SB 72-412 OR ENGINES WITH ONE WASHER ú BETWEEN THE CONDUIT CAP AND THE NOSE CAP; ú Install the washer on the nose cap side of the bracket. ú b) ENGINES POST-CFMI-SB 72-412 OR ENGINES WITH TWO WASHERS ú BETWEEN THE CONDUIT CAP AND NOSE CAP; ú Install one washer on the conduit cap side of the ú bracket. Install the second washer on the nose cap ú side of the bracket. ú c) ENGINES POST-CFMI-SB 72-950; ú Engines with this service bulletin do not use washers.
 7) Turn the nose cap on the conduit cap. 8) Tighten the nose cap to 180-200 pound-inches (20.3-22.6 Newton meters) and install the lockwire. 9) Attach the clamp bracket of the fuel tube to the mounting bracket of the VSV feedback cable with two bolts and nuts.

 4. Pressure Test the Variable Stator Vane (VSV) Actuators

856A1084, Cart - Hydraulic, CFM International

 (2)  
Hose Assembly, Air Pressure Test - approved for use at 60 psi (420 kPa) air pressure with pressure fittings at one end to attach to:


 -a pressure gage for use at 0-60 psi (0-420 kPA) minimum
 -an air source.
 The assembly must also have an adjustable hose clamp at the opposite end. The hose clamp is there to attach to a 3/8 inch diameter drain line.
 B. Consumable Materials
 (1)  
B00148 Methyl Ethyl Keytone (MEK) - (CP1040)

 (2)  
G00403 Pressurized gas - dry air or nitrogen, 50-60 psi (345-420 kPa)

 (3)  
D00124 Oil - Lubricating, MIL-L-6081, Grade 1010 (CP2369)


 NOTE: Filtered (10 micron) fuel may be used as an alternative for

 operation of the VSV system.
