Prepare the Vent System for the No. 1 Tank or the No. 2 Tank for the Pressure Check (Fig. 601)

WARNING: CAREFULLY DO ALL OF THE SAFETY PROCEDURES TO DEFUEL THE FUEL
_______ TANKS AND TO PREPARE TO GO INTO THEM. AN EXPLOSION, BAD INJURY TO PERSONS, AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.

Prepare to go into the surge tank and the main tank on the side of the airplane where you must do the check (AMM 28-10-00/201).

(2)
Remove these access panels for the applicable wing fuel tank (AMM 28-11-11/401):
(a)
The access panel, No. 1, for the main tank
(b)
The access panel, No. 12, for the main tank
(c)
The access panel, No. 13, for the main tank
(d)
The access panel, No. 14, for the surge tank.

CAUTION:_______ ATTACH RED SAFETY STREAMERS TO ALL OF THE PLUGS AND THE COVERS
THAT YOU USE TO CLOSE THE VENT OPENINGS. BAD DAMAGE TO THE
AIRPLANE STRUCTURE WILL OCCUR IF YOU DO NOT REMOVE ALL OF THE
TEST EQUIPMENT AFTER THE PRESSURE CHECK.

Attach the safety streamers to all of the covers and the closure plugs before you install them.

Go into the wing tank through the access panel, No. 1 and the applicable rib access openings.
S 486-006
(5)
Install one of the plug assemblies, F80080-29, for the crossover vent tube in the inboard end of the vent.
NOTE: This closes the vent for the wing tank and the drain hole.

Go into the surge tank through the access panel, No. 13.

(7)
Close the vent duct for the center tank and the drain for the surge tank.
(a)
Install the structural vent plug, F80080-100, in the forward vent duct for the center tank.
(b)
Install the plug assembly for the drain tube, F80080-55, on the opening that goes to the drain line for the surge tank.
(c)
Install the cover assembly for the structural vent, F80080-56, in the rectangular opening in the forward vent duct for the center tank.

Install the pressure door assembly, F80080-82, for the surge tank in the opening for the access panel, No. 13.

Install the plug, F80080-88, to close the vent scoop in the opening for the access panel, No. 14, for the surge tank.
S 016-011
(10)
Go into the main tank through the opening for the access panel, No. 12, to get access to the vent float valve.
S 486-012
(11)
Install the stop assembly, F80080-26, for the vent float valve to put blockage in the float valve.
