Start the two engines (AMM 71-00-00/201).

Make sure the L CTR boost pump switch is off.

Let the engines operate at the IDLE rate, and set these switches on the P5 panel to the OFF position:
(a)
the FWD boost pump switch for the No. 1 tank
(b)
the AFT boost pump switch for the No. 1 tank.

CAUTION: IF THE FUEL FLOW DECREASES AND YOU THINK AN ENGINE FLAMEOUT
_______ WILL OCCUR, STOP THE ENGINE. DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN EASILY OCCUR.
(5) Monitor these quantities to make sure the engine operates with the correct limits for low idle operation (AMM 71-00-00/201):
(a)
RPM - N2: 59%
N1: 21.5%
(b)
FF (Fuel Flow) - 550-950 PPH (250-430 KGPH)
(c)
EGT - 450-650 degrees C

(6) Monitor N1, N2, and the fuel flow to see if the fuel flow rate
decreases or changes quickly.

(7) Move the thrust lever for the No. 1 engine forward to the position
for 90% takeoff power (which you found in the "Test Preparation"
procedure).

(8) Make sure fuel flow increases and the engine operates with the
correct limits (AMM 71-00-00/201).
NOTE:____ The fuel flow rate must increase smoothly and
continuously if the bypass valve operates correctly.

Monitor fuel tank No. 1 for a fuel decrease of a minimum of 200 - 300 LBS (90.9 - 136 KGS) in three to five minutes.

Pull the thrust lever for the No. 1 engine back to the idle position and make sure the engine operates with the correct limits (AMM 71-00-00/201).
