_______ TANK AND TO PREPARE TO GO INTO IT. AN EXPLOSION, INJURIES TO PERSONS, AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(1)
Do the tasks: "Fuel Tank Defueling" (AMM 28-23-00/201) and "Purging (Air Ventilating)" (AMM 28-10-00/201) to the applicable fuel tank.

Remove the access panel, No. 3, for the applicable wing fuel tank (AMM 28-11-11/401).
NOTE: The access panel is outboard of the engine.

Do the task: "Shutoff Valve Actuator and Gate Assembly Removal".

Get access to the shutoff valve through the access panel, No. 3, for the wing fuel tank.

CAUTION:_______DO NOT PERMIT THE ADAPTER ASSEMBLY TO FALL. DAMAGE TO THE WING SKIN OR THE SEAL ON THE FUEL TANK CAN EASILY OCCUR.
(6) Remove the port adapter assembly.
NOTE: Two persons are necessary to do this step.

(a)
Put one person in the fuel tank to hold the adapter assembly up.
(b)
Put a second person out of the tank to remove the mounting bolts and the washers that attach the port adapter assembly.
(c)
Remove the mounting bolts and the washers on the port adapter assembly.
(d)
Move the port adapter assembly from between the fuel line flanges.
(e)
Lift the port adapter assembly away from its position on the airplane.

Clean the O-ring grooves and the machined surfaces of fuel line flanges on the port adapter assembly, and front spar with solvent.
(2)
Rub off all remaining solvent with a clean cotton cloth.
