ENGINE FUEL FEED SYSTEM - TROUBLE SHOOTING

1. General_______
A. These trouble shooting procedures were developed from data from the pressure fueling system during a standard refueling operation. The procedures are in a tree-type configuration. The steps related to the refuel operation (heavy-line boxes) are connected by arrows to show the path through the tests that gives good (system operable) results (OK condition).
B. When a step in the refuel operation does not give a good result, follow the NOT OK line to the box that contains the applicable problem. Refer to the procedure shown in that box. Continue to analyze the results of each step in the refuel operation until you find the applicable solution to the problem. Do the steps necessary to correct the problem. Then do the step where you first found the problem again to make sure you corrected the problem.
C. All of the trouble shooting procedures for electrical components must be done with good wiring and electrical power available. If the procedure in the trouble shooting block does not correct the problem, do a check of the wiring continuity. Refer to the applicable diagram in the Wiring Diagram Manual (WDM).
D. Trouble Shooting for the Engine Fuel Shutoff Valves and the Crossfeed Valve
(1) Incorrect operation of the engine fuel shutoff valves or the crossfeed valve can be caused by mechanical or electrical problems with the valve. If the valve does not open (close) fully, try to open (close) the valve with the manual override handle. If the usual pressure from your hand is sufficient to open (close) the valve, the problem is usually electrical. Replace the motor/actuator assembly on the valve (AMM 28-22-11/401) with an actuator known to operate correctly to do a check of the electrical problem. If you feel the valve is caught or locked when you try to open (close) it with the manual override handle, the problem is mechanical. But the actuator can also be the source of the problem with this condition. Remove the actuator and try to open (close) the valve with the manual override handle on the bench. This is a check to see if the actuator was the source of the mechanical problem. If the actuator assembly moves freely, the source of the mechanical problem is the gate assembly or the port adapter. You can replace the port adapter only if you defuel the applicable tank completely.

E. The references in the fault isolation blocks refer to the applicable procedures in the 737 maintenance manual unless the reference includes the letters "WDM" which shows that the necessary data is in the 737 wiring diagram manual.
