Make loops in the wire to make the wire and the float switch easy to move.
(g)
Remove the float switch from the fuel tank.
(h)
When it is necessary to remove the conduit for the fueling float switch in the wing tank, do the steps that follow:
(i)
From out of the wing tank remove the bulkhead union nut.
NOTE: Make sure the conduit is held from in the tank while
____ the bulkhead union nut is removed. This is to prevent the conduit and union from falling in the tank.
1) Remove the washer.
2) From in the wing tank, remove the conduit nut at the
bulkhead union. 3) Remove the bulkhead union. 4) Remove the bulkhead union O-ring.

3. Float Switch Installation

A. Equipment
(1)
Puller - wire, to pull wires through the electrical conduit
(2)
Ohmmeter - to measure electrical continuity
(3)
Splices - moistureproof, to connect wires
(4)
Syringe - small, to remove fluid from the float switch conduit
(5)
Equipment to fill the conduit with grease:
NOTE: This equipment, including the necessary grease
____ (MIL-G-27617, Type I) is available as a kit from Castrol Inc., 16715 Von Karman Ave., Suite 230, Irvine, CA, 92714.
(a) Tube - plastic, maximum outer diameter 0.25 inches, approximately 24 inches long
(6) Gun - dispensing, to put grease into the tube, available from Andpak-EMA, Inc., 1860 Dobbin Drive, San Jose, CA 95133.

E. Procedure
S 434-014
(1) Attach the washers and the mounting nut to the float switch.
(a)
Put the wires on the float switch through the washers and the mounting nut.
(b)
Install the washers and the mounting nut loosely on the float switch.

Put the switch in its correct position in the fuel tank.

If the conduit of the fueling float switch found in the wing tank is removed, do the steps that follow:
(a)
Put a new O-ring on the bulkhead union.
(b)
From in the wing tank, put the bulkhead union through the wing front spar.
(c)
Make sure the bulkhead union aligns with the union retainer fitting.
(d)
From out of the wing tank, install the washer on the bulkhead union.
NOTE: Make sure the bulkhead union is held from in the
____ wing tank while the bulkhead union washer is installed. This is to prevent the union from falling in the wing tank.
(e)
Install the bulkhead union nut.
(f)
From in the wing tank, loosely install the conduit nut on the bulkhead union.
