Examine the position of the manual override lever on the engine shutoff valve (Fig. 502).

Make sure the engine shutoff valve is fully open.
(f)
Make sure the engine shutoff valve for the other engine and the crossfeed valve did not open during this step.
(g)
Make sure the engine shutoff valve stays fully open while you slowly move the start lever forward to the IDLE position.
NOTE: If the engine shutoff valve operates correctly, it
____ is closed when the start lever is in the CUTOFF position. It opens when the start lever is 0.25 to 1.80 inches from the CUTOFF position. It stays open at all positions thru the IDLE position.

(6) Make sure the engine shutoff valve operates correctly with the fire switch for the applicable engine.
(a)
Find the fire switch for the applicable engine on the P8 panel (on the aisle stand).
(b)
Pull the applicable fire switch to the FIRE position.
(c)
Make sure the position indication light for the applicable engine shutoff valve shows these effects: 1) The light comes on brightly to show a change in the valve
position. 2) The light stays on dimly to show that the valve is closed.
(d)
Examine the position of the manual override lever on the valve to make sure the engine shutoff valve is closed (Fig. 502).
(e)
Push the fire switch for the applicable engine to the NORMAL position.
(f)
Make sure the position indication light for the applicable engine shutoff valve shows these effects: 1) The light comes on brightly to show the position change of
the engine shutoff valve. 2) The position indication light goes off to show the engine shutoff valve is open.
(g)
Examine the position of the manual override lever on the engine shutoff valve to make sure the valve is open (FIg. 502).

(b)

Examine the position of the manual override lever on the valve to make sure the valve is fully closed.
