3. Troubleshoot Center Tank Fuel Scavenge System
Do this procedure: "Prepare for Troubleshooting". Make sure the switch for the FWD boost pump in the No. 1 tank is in the ON position. Monitor the indicators to make sure fuel does not flow from the center tank to the No. 1 tank (the two indi-cator values must not change).

 (2)  AIRPLANES WITH THE FUEL FLOW INDICATOR/CHECK VALVE; Extend the leading edge flaps (Ref 27-81-00/201).
 WARNING: YOU MUST CAREFULLY DO THE STEPS IN THE TASK BELOW TO
_______ INSTALL THE LE FLAP SAFETY LOCKS. THE LE FLAPS CAN MOVE QUICKLY IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE SAFETY LOCKS CORRECTLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (3)  
AIRPLANES WITH THE FUEL FLOW INDICATOR/CHECK VALVE; Install the locks on the leading edge flaps (Ref 27-81-00/201).

 (4)  
Make sure the engine start levers on the aisle stand are in the CUTOFF position.

 (5)  
Make sure the fuel quantity in tank No. 1 is between 10 and 80% full and that the center tank is more than 10% full.

 (6)  
AIRPLANES WITH THE FUEL FLOW INDICATOR/CHECK VALVE; at the front spar of the No. 1 tank, remove the cap from the fuel flow indicator.

 (7)  
AIRPLANES WITH THE FUEL FLOW INDICATOR/CHECK VALVE; Set the FWD boost pump switch for the No. 1 tank to ON.


 (a)  Make sure the fuel scavenge flow indicator/check valve needle is in the blue band.
