C. Prepare for the Test

(1) Make sure these quantities are in the fuel tanks:
(a)
Tanks No. 1 and 2 1600 |100 pounds (725 |45 kilograms)
(b)
Center Tank No restriction

(2) If the center tank contains some fuel, do these steps:
(a) Remove these access panels for the boost pumps for the center tank (AMM 57-30-11/401): 1) Access panel, 7201L, for the left center tank boost pumps

(b) Close the removal valves manually (AMM 28-22-41/401).
D. Procedure

WARNING: CAREFULLY DO ALL OF THE SAFETY PROCEDURES BEFORE YOU START THE
_______ ENGINES. BAD INJURY TO PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(1)
Start the two engines (AMM 71-00-00/201).

Set the engines to idle power (approximately 1200 - 1400 pounds per hour, 544 - 635 kilograms per hour).

Permit the engines to operate at idle power with boost pumps on for a minimum of two minutes. (This time is referred to as "the warm-up period").
NOTE: With ambient conditions of extreme cold, it can be
____ necessary to permit the engine to warm up for more time.

(4) Carefully note any fast changes in N1, N2 or fuel flow during the warm up period.
(a) At the end of the warm-up period, carefully note and write down the parameters N1, N2, and fuel flow for each engine.

Make sure the fuel crossfeed valve is closed.

Stop the operation of the forward boost pump and the aft boost pump for the No. 1 tank.
(7)
Operate the engines at IDLE for a minimum of 5 minutes.

Monitor N1, N2, and the fuel flow on the No. 1 engine for
deterioration or fast changes.
