FUEL LINE AND COUPLINGS - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General
_______
A. This procedure has two tasks:
(1)
A task to remove a fuel line in the engine fuel-feed system
(2)
A task to install a fuel line in the engine fuel-feed system.
B. This procedure gives a general procedure to remove and to install the fuel lines and the couplings in the engine fuel-feed system. Three types of couplings are used:
(1)
A flexible full coupling
(2)
A flexible half coupling
(3)
A rigid coupling.
C. If a fuel line has damage, it is frequently necessary to cut the line into sections to remove it or to install it. Thus, if there is damage to a line that is longer than the length of one rib bay, you must remove only the section with damage.
D. Connect the end of a line that goes to a rigid coupling first. Connect the end of the line that goes to a flexible coupling last.
E. Do not loosen a rigid coupling to make it easier to install the other couplings in a fuel line.
F. Make sure the fuel tube has the correct clearance after installation (AMM 54-10-00/201).

If bonding jumpers are installed on the couplings, disconnect them.
(a) Keep the jumper clamps for the task to install the fuel line.

(6) Do these steps to disconnect the fuel line:
(a)
Loosen the nuts at the couplings.
(b)
Disconnect the fuel line clamps from the airplane structure.
(c)
Remove the fuel line and the clamps.
(d)
Identify the shims or spacers for the task to install the fuel line.
(e)
Discard the O-rings in the couplings.
