(10) Do these steps to install the plugs for the bypass valve inlets (Fig 202):
(a) Loosen the bolts that attach the bypass valve to the engine fuel-feed tubing.
NOTE: Loosen the bolts sufficiently to permit you to put
____ the plug into the flange without moving the O-ring from its groove in the check valve.
(b)
Remove one bolt from the flange.
(c)
Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly to the plug.
CAUTION:_______PUT THE PLUG INTO THE FLANGE CAREFULLY. DAMAGE TO THE O-RING IN THE FLANGE CAN OCCUR.
(d)
Put the bolt that you removed in the flange again.
(e)
Tighten the bolts on the flange to make sure the plug has a good seal (AMM 20-50-11/201).

Remove the fuel filter drain plug and let the fuel drain.
(c)
Remove and discard the O-ring from the drain plug.

Install a new O-ring, lightly lubricated with petrolatum, on the drain plug.
(e)
Install the drain plug, with the threads lightly lubricated with grease. 1) Tighten the drain plug to 45-55 pound-inches (5.1-6.2
Newton meters).
2) Install a lockwire on the drain plug.

(15) Disconnect the fuel supply line for each engine at the left service disconnect panel.
(a) Install a cap on the fuel connector on the panel to give protection from contamination.

Make sure the vacuum pump is correctly grounded to the same ground as the airplane.

Connect the air pressure source (100 psi) to the vacuum pump (Fig. 201).

Connect the vacuum pump (Fig. 201) to one of the disconnected hoses for the engine fuel feed.

Install the pressure gage (0-30 inches of mercury) in the other disconnected hose for the engine fuel-feed.

Apply the vacuum to the fuel-feed lines.
(a)
With the pump shutoff valve open, start the vacuum pump (Fig. 201).

Apply a vacuum of between 17 and 18 inches of mercury.
