(c) Apply compound, C00913 to the shank and threads of the bolts [29].
(d) Put the manual drive cover [5] and the packing [30] on the power drive unit [21].
(e) Install the bolts [29] and washers [28] to attach the manual drive cover [5].

A. General
(1) This procedure is applicable to the seals on the power drive unit (PDU) at the attachment of the
hydraulic motor, and the electric motor.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THE DOWNLOCK PINS ARE INSTALLED ON ALL THE LANDING GEAR.
WITHOUT THE DOWNLOCK PINS, THE LANDING GEAR CAN RETRACT AND CAUSE
INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) If the downlock pins are not installed in the nose and main landing gear, do this task: Landing
Gear Downlock Pins Installation, TASK 32-00-01-480-801.

(3) Remove the pressure from the system B hydraulic reservoir. To remove the pressure, do this
task: Hydraulic Reservoirs Depressurization, TASK 29-11-01-860-802 or Hydraulic
Reservoirs Depressurization, TASK 29-09-00-860-802.
F. Seal Removal
SUBTASK 27-51-51-010-004
(1) To replace the seal [53] for the hydraulic motor [23], remove the hydraulic motor [22] from the
power drive unit [21]. To remove it, do this task: Flap Hydraulic Motor Removal,
TASK 27-51-52-000-801.

(2) To replace the seal [53] for the electric motor [19], remove the electric motor [19] from the power
drive unit [21]. To remove it, do this task: Flap Electric Motor Removal, TASK 27-51-53-000-801.
SUBTASK 27-51-51-680-001
(3) Drain the fluid from the power drive unit [21]:
(a) Put a 1 U.S.-gal (3.81 l) oil resistant container, STD-203 below the drain port to catch the
fluid.
(b) Remove the plug [51] and the packing [52] from the drain port.
(c) Wait for the fluid to drain from the power drive unit [21].

(4) Remove the seal [53] from the power drive unit [21]:
(a) Remove the screws [55] and the retainer [54] from the power drive unit [21].
CAUTION: USE CAUTION WHEN YOU REMOVE THE SEAL FROM THE POWER DRIVE UNIT.
YOU CAN SCRATCH THE PINION GEAR SHAFT, OR THE PDU HOUSING.
SCRATCHES, OR OTHER DAMAGE CAN CAUSE FLUID LEAKS PAST THE NEW
SEAL.
(b) Carefully remove the seal [53] from the power drive unit [21].
