SUBTASK 27-58-01-210-001
(1) Make sure the ballscrew nuts [14] touch the downstop [12] on the ballscrew [13] on transmission
No. 4 or No. 5.
SUBTASK 27-58-01-420-001
(2) Install the flap position transmitter [2]:
NOTE: Do not turn the shaft for the flap position transmitter [2]. When it is not installed, a lock
holds the input shaft [8]. The lock is disengaged when you install the flap position
transmitter [2].
(a) Make sure that the two rig marks on the flap position transmitter [2] are visible and aligned
in the transmitter window.
NOTE: The alignment marks in the rig indicator windows must align before installation. If
they do not, you must push on the shaft lock and turn the shaft until the alignment
marks are aligned. To do this, it may be necessary to turn the shaft up to 800
turns.
(b) Apply Christo-lube MCG111 grease, D50011 to the packing [9] in the transmission [7].
(c) Apply Christo-lube MCG111 grease, D50011 to the splines on the input shaft [8] for the flap
position transmitter [2].
(d) Apply compound, C00913 to the mating surface of the flap position transmitter [2] and the
transmission [7].

CAUTION: PUT THE FLAP POSITION TRANSMITTER [2] IN ITS POSITION WITHOUT BINDING
OR TURNING THE INPUT SHAFT [8] UNTIL THE MATING SURFACES TOUCH.
AFTER THE MATING SURFACES TOUCH, YOU CAN TURN THE TRANSMITTER TO
ALIGN THE BOLT HOLES. IF YOU TURN OR BIND THE INPUT SHAFT BEFORE THE
MATING SURFACES TOUCH, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE INPUT SHAFT.
(e) Put the flap position transmitter [2] in its location on the transmission [7].
(f) Apply compound, C00913 to the shank and threads of the bolts [11].
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS NO CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE TRANSMITTER
AND THE TRANSMISSION. IF YOU TIGHTEN THE BOLTS WITH CLEARANCE, YOU
CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMITTER.
(g) Install the bolts [11] and washers [10] that attach the flap position transmitter [2].
(h) Put the jumper wire [5] in its position on the flap position transmitter [2].
(i) Install the bolt [3], washer [4] and washer [6] that attach the jumper wire [5] and the flap
position transmitter [2].
(j) Make sure the bonding resistance between the jumper wire [5] and the flap position
transmitter [2] is less than 8 milliohms.
(k) ON AIRPLANES WITH LOCKWIRE HOLES;
Install lockwire on the bolt [3], bolts [11] and the bolts on the transmission [7].
NOTE: If the bolts have holes for lockwire then install two separate sets of lockwire, both
of them on three bolts.

(3) Before you connect the electrical connector [1], examine the connector for corrosion.
