(4) Retract the trailing edge flaps to the UP position. To retract the flaps, do this task: Trailing Edge
Flap System Operation With Primary Control, TASK 27-51-00-860-801.
NOTE: Wait a minimum of 2 minutes before you remove the hydraulic power. The flaps can
move a small distance during this time.

(5) Remove the pressure from the system B hydraulic reservoir. To remove the pressure, do this
task: Hydraulic Reservoirs Depressurization, TASK 29-11-01-860-802 or Hydraulic
Reservoirs Depressurization, TASK 29-09-00-860-802.

(6) Turn the sleeve [2] on the flap control valve assembly [3] 45 degrees.
NOTE: This will move the eroded parts of the flap control valve slide [9] with respect to the
rectangular slots in the sleeve [2].

(7) Move the flap control lever to the 40-unit detent.

WARNING: KEEP PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT CLEAR OF THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES, THE
THRUST REVERSERS, AND THE LANDING GEAR. THESE COMPONENTS CAN MOVE
SUDDENLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO
PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(8) Supply system B hydraulic power, do this task: Hydraulic System A or B Pressurization,
TASK 29-11-00-860-801.

(9) Move the flap control lever to the UP position to retract the flaps.

(10) Do this test of the flap control valve assembly [3]:
(a) Fully extend and retract the trailing edge flaps five times. To extend and retract the flaps, do
this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Operation With Primary Control,
TASK 27-51-00-860-801.
NOTE: Wait a minimum of 2 minutes before you remove the hydraulic power. The flaps
can move a small distance during this time.
(b) Remove system B hydraulic power, do this task: Hydraulic System A or B Power
Removal, TASK 29-11-00-860-805.
(c) Remove the lower pan [4] from the flap control unit [1]:

1) Remove the screws [5] that attach the lower pan [4] to the flap control unit [1].
2) Remove the lower pan [4] from the flap control unit [1].
(d) Do a check of the adjustment of the flap control valve assembly [3]:
NOTE: This will make sure the flap power drive unit [12] and the flap control unit [1]
moved to the correct position when you retracted the flaps.
1) Make sure you can easily install the rig pin [8] through the cam follower arm [7] and the
valve cam [6].
2) Make sure the black rig mark on the cable drum [10] for the flap power drive unit [12]
extends past the cable guard [11] a minimum of 0.03 inch (.762 mm) on each side.
(e) If you cannot install the rig pin [8], or if the flap power drive unit [12] is not in the correct
position, then, do this task: Trailing Edge Flap Control Valve Adjustment,
TASK 27-51-65-820-801.
F. Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition
SUBTASK 27-51-65-080-004
(1) Remove the rig pin [8] from the cam follower arm [7] and the valve cam [6].
SUBTASK 27-51-65-410-003
(2) Install the lower pan [4] on the flap control unit [1]:
(a) Put the lower pan [4] in its location on the flap control unit [1].
(b) Apply compound, C00913 to the shank and threads of the screws [5].
(c) Install the screws [5] to attach the lower pan [4] to the flap control unit [1].
