3. Outboard Flap Outboard Skew Mechanism Installation

A. General
(1) This task is applicable to the flap skew mechanisms installed on flap supports No. 1 and 8.

(1) Make sure that these circuit breakers are open:

(2) Install the sensor input assembly [2]:
(a) Apply a layer of compound, C00913 to the mating surface of the sensor input assembly [2]
and the flap track [1].
(b) Apply compound, C00913 to the shank and threads of the bolts [9].

(c) Put the sensor input assembly [2] in its location on the flap track [1].
(d) Install the bolts [9], washers [10], washers [11] and nuts [12] that attach the sensor input
assembly [2] to the flap track [1].
(e) Install the bolt [3], washer [4], washer [5], washer [6] and nut [7] to attach the jumper wire
[8] and the sensor input assembly [2] to the flap track [1].
NOTE: Install the washer [5] under the jumper wire [8].
(f) Make sure the bonding resistance between the flap track [1] and the jumper wire [8] is less
than 8 milliohms.
(g) Apply a bead of sealant, A02315 or sealant, A00247 around the bolt [3] and the nut [7].

(3) Install the control rod [21]:
(a) Apply compound, C00913 to the shank and threads of the bolts [16].
(b) Put the control rod [21] in its position between the carriage [22] and the crank arm [15].
NOTE: Make sure the adjustable end of the control rod [21] attaches to the crank arm
[15].
(c) Install the bolts [16], washers [17], bushings [18], washers [19] and nuts [20] to attach the
control rod [21].
NOTE: Install the bolts [16] with the heads toward the center of the flap track [1].

(4) Do this task: Flap Skew Detection System Adjustment, TASK 27-59-00-820-801.

(5) If the flap skew sensor [13] is not installed, do this task: Outboard Flap Outboard Skew Sensor
Installation, TASK 27-59-01-400-801.

(6) Before you connect the electrical connector [14], examine the connector for corrosion.
WARNING: DO THE STEPS BELOW IF THE AIRPLANE OPERATES AT AIRPORTS WHERE
DEICING FLUID THAT CONTAIN POTASSIUM FORMATE IS USED. ALSO DO THE
STEPS FOR ALL AIRPLANES THAT YOU FOUND CORROSION IN THE
ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS IN THE MAIN WHEEL WELL. THE ELECTRICAL
CONNECTOR IS PART OF A SYSTEM THAT IS NECESSARY FOR SAFE FLIGHT.
