OUTBOARD FLAP BALLSCREWS AND GIMBALS - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. General
A. This procedure has these tasks:
(1) A removal of the outboard ballscrew and gimbal for the outboard flap
(2) An installation of the outboard ballscrew and gimbal for the outboard flap
(3) A removal of the inboard ballscrew and gimbal for the outboard flap
(4) An installation of the inboard ballscrew and gimbal for the outboard flap.

(1) This task is applicable to the ballscrew and gimbal at flap supports No. 1 and 8.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU HOLD THE BALLSCREW WHILE YOU DISCONNECT IT. IF YOU LET
THE U-JOINT HOLD THE BALLSCREW, YOU WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE U-JOINT.
(2) Disconnect the ballscrew assembly [2] with the gimbal assembly [14] from the carriage [1]:
NOTE: When you disconnect the ballscrew assembly [2] from the carriage [1], the outboard
flap can move a small distance to the downstop on the flap track.
(a) Remove the nut [8], washer [7] and bolt [6] from the carriage [1].
(b) Remove the inboard carriage bushing [9] and outboard carriage bushing [15] from the
gimbal assembly [14] and the carriage [1].
(c) Move the ballscrew assembly [2] and gimbal assembly [14] away from the carriage [1].

(3) Disconnect the ballscrew assembly [2] from the yoke [4] on the transmission [3]:
